Third Trek flick and they pick another of my favorites. Oh well, V and VI were both superb RiffTrax, and I look forward to Generations very much. I take it First Contact is next, if they continue down this road, but I wish they would do Insurrection or the Motion Picture. Yet they haven't done the worst one of them all: the first Star Trek movie. That was the only one I hated. The preview of Generations looks okay. I wish the website took money orders.

I agree, the Motion Picture was a major bore, even in it's supposedly superior Director's Edition (flashier effects and tighter editing or not, it still didn't change the fact that it's a movie where characters stare out of windows for minutes at a time). I think maybe the reason they're straying away from it is that there are three different cuts of the movie.
Although that didn't stop them from doing Star Trek VI. The version they did for the RiffTrax was the slightly altered cut on the Special Edition release.

They didn't know there were multiple cuts of VI.

Only two. The version on the Special Edition released is slightly altered, but not majorly. The only real change that sticks out in my mind is the mind melding scene in which brief flashes of all those involved in the destruction of the Klingon ship are seen.
Since these flashes are aknowledged on the RiffTrax, then the Special Edition is definatly the cut they used.

Oh I wasn't debating that. We know now, it wasn't known when it was made though. It wasn't known that the US and UK versions of Casino Royale and the US version Eragon were cut either until right before release, that was a mess.

Actually there are three, but the theatrical cut has never been released on home video so any confusion with that one would be moot anyhow.

Wait, the theatrical cut of Star Trek VI was never released on video? Or are you talking about the Motion Picture?

VI. The theatrical version eliminated the character of Colonel West and his plan, and thus the sharpshooter was a Klingon.

VI. The theatrical version eliminated the character of Colonel West and his plan, and thus the sharpshooter was a Klingon. Was it? The version that plays on the Sci Fi channel here in the UK doesn't feature West and his plan, but then the sharpshooter still gets unmasked after he dies, and someone still cries out "It's Colonel West!" And Worf is all "Oh, great. Who's he?"

Wow, that is weird. Yet another version!
But then, flicks on cable TV are often cut for time.
