I guess I need to watch the original movie then. I keep meaning to but always forget. The modern film was pretty fun to watch in theaters, but I could never take it seriously as a "good" film. It should be a great choice for riffing, though.

Re: the original movie
It really helps if you're a life-long, die-hard Transformers nutjob, like me. Still, I find it a hell of a lot easier to take seriously than Bay's movie. And there are no masturbation or urination jokes, which is always a plus. (The '80s metal soundtrack can be either a plus or a negative, I suppose. I consider it a huge plus. Man, I hate the new movie's soundtrack, save for the Smashing Pumpkins track.)

The soundtrack sounds like a minus to me, but I doubt it would bother me much.

I can't think of that song now without hearing Dirk Diggler's voice! Seriously, I was quite fond of that movie and how great the animation seemed to be (especially the Unicron transformation scene). Then I popped it in recently and was stunned at how flawed the animation actually was.
I always hated the contant stream of rock music. I mean, I love rock music but damn!

Before I start let me make it clear I don't know Transformers from the hole in my head! I am way too old. Transformers is something I am only dimly aware of as some sort of Anime / toy phenom. from the 80's (?) That said this was another "disaster" rifftrax for me. I couldn't finish it. Micheal Bay movies are headache inducing. I am not the target audience for this kind of movie. (age 6-13 males). I also got the impression the movie was hurting Mike, Kevin and Bill as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they went out and got totally drunk after doing this rifftrax. After seeing this, I hope to God they don't do "Armageddon." It will warp and destroy their minds and we will have no more Rifftrax and the world will be a dark, cold place indeed. That said I did find it kind of amusing the Megan Fox (?), the female lead, looked about 36 yrs old compared to all the other "teenagers" in the movie. (snurk)

I'm afraid to post this over at the RT forum, but I basically agree with DoctorZ about the movie. Head-shattering noise, humorless humor, and oodles of overacting. And soooooo long. Why do all movies have to be two-and-a-half hours long these days?
That said, I did enjoy the track. Very funny. It was one of those RiffTrax where the riffs frequently take the words right out of my mouth. It doesn't always happen, but this time the same things that bugged me seemed to bug the guys too.

There was no humor in the movie itself. I agree. Michael Bay should not try to be funny.

I'm a pretty hardcore Transformers fanboy myself, to the pointing of liking both the live-action AND animated movies. At the same time, I thought the RiffTrax of the live-action flick was hysterical, and certainly wouldn't mind seeing one for the '80s animated version.
