...just for RiffTrax purposes? Just so you could hear the RiffTrax or because you've listened to the RiffTrax before (via borrowed or rented DVD) and wanted to experience over and over again like an MST episode?
I'm curious to some of the responses out there, and what films might never have made it into your collections had there never been RiffTrax.
For example, the other day I was digging through the $5 bin at Wal-Mart and came across the Island of Dr. Moreau. This was a terrible movie that facinated me with it's awfulness during my teenage years and I couldn't stop watching it. Never bought it, just something I occassionally rented when I was in the mood to kill some brain cells.
So I come across it in the bin, and I knew there was a RiffTrax on it, one that I'm dying to hear, so I say "What the hell?" and picked it up (also bought the World's Fastest Indian, to wash away the Dr. Moreau aftertaste).
Am I alone and wastefull, or is there anyone else like me who has done this?

If that opportunity arose, I would probably jump at it. Especially if we're talking bargain bin prices. Dr. Moreau is a terrible movie, but one that would be kind of fun to own for five bucks, Rifftrax or not.
Otherwise I have not bought a movie (that I liked or otherwise) to use with Rifftrax. I've either used an online rental service or already owned the movies they riff on.

I bought Road House, Star Trek V, Cocktail, and XXX. I got them all used on eBay and Amazon for nickel and dime prices. Then I learned you don't actually have to buy the movie. There are other ways, like renting.

Star Trek V, Cocktail, XXX, Harry Potter, Island of........ hell, most of them actually. That is why I love used DVDs from Amazon.com or Netflix

I try not to re-author a DVD without purchasing it first. I've bought some shameful titles (Crossroads, Glitter, Battlefield Earth), but always used copies and usually under $5.

I wrote a list for Christmas with a bunch of movies all for use with RiffTrax. Most of which had no other interest to me besides that. I received Fantastic Four: ROTSS, Star Trek V & Generations, and The Bourne Identity. Sadly, I got the wrong cut of the Bourne Identity (Extended Edition) and will have to return it.
Buying movies for the sake of the riff is worth it. I'd just go looking for the cheapest edition compatible with the track.

I bought Space Mutiny for $5 from K-Mart, because I like PAIN..!
Really, tho. It's so hilarious on its own, I just had to have it.

I found Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo for sale at the rental place for a dollar. I haven't seen the episode yet, but I couldn't pass it up.

I have all the RiffTrax and have bought quite a few new for RiffTrax. I think the most I paid was $14 for Next. I also wasn't chickenshit to buy Crossroads either like some people are. There are a lot of insecure people that refused to buy that disc, which is a shame because it is one of the best Mike solo riffs.

Heck yeah I bought Crossroads because it was a fine, upstanding movie rifftrax. I bought that, XXX, and The Grudge, at least, online for a few bucks or less each.

I've bought several of the movies just because I had the RiffTrax for it...
Horrible Movie/Great Riffs
Bargain in my book.

I've bought most of the movies they've done so far if I didn't have it already. Roadhouse was on TV soon after Rifftrax started so I taped that and my little sister had Crossroads and Glitter so that saved some embarrassment! Battlefield Earth, Top Gun and Cocktail are my worst purchases so far.

I hear so many people say they buy the movies for Rifftrax, and I just don't understand it, when we have things like Netflix and Blockbuster. I know Rifftrax has done some more obscure things lately...ie, "Star Wars Holiday Special," therefore you wouldn't be able to rent, but most, easily! I just can't see myself wasting money on most of these movies. I just rent them.

Well lets put it this way, you can watch it whenever the mood strike you and don't have to wait for it to come in the mail, or keep paying for it at the video store. I can't stop watching Missile to the Moon - If someone was like me and had eps they watch over and over. In the long run it would be cheaper than renting them via Netflix, Blockbuster etc...

I can't use Netflix over here, although there probably is some sort of similar service, and there's now only one small Blockbuster in my town as all of the other rental stores shut down, and it doesn't have things like The Fifth Element. Too old. Anyway most films have cost £5 or less. Only FF4 2 and Transformers have cost me more, and I kind of enjoyed the movies.
