I got this from comingsoon.net:
"Family Guy Making a Come Back to TV? Source: USA Today Tuesday, November 18, 2003
20th Century Fox is considering a plan to resume production of Family Guy, a sometimes crude animated comedy that the Fox network took off the air more than 18 months ago.
As many as 35 new episodes could return in January 2005, marking the first time that a canceled series has been revived based on strong DVD demand and ratings in syndication.
Fox Television Entertainment Group chairman Sandy Grushow said a decision is expected soon and called the series a late-blooming phenomenon that may have aired before its time.
A DVD set of the show's first 28 episodes released in April has sold nearly 1 million copies, making it this year's top-selling TV show and the No. 4 television title ever. A second collection, of 22 episodes, has sold 520,000 copies. And the series is Cartoon Network's most popular among adults.
The series was created by Seth MacFarlane, who wrote scripts, drew characters, provided voices and infused the show with rapid-fire sight gags. But ratings faded, and the show ended with a whimper early last year."
Holy crap! 35 episodes! I'm not getting my hopes up though. Even if it doesn't make it back to TV, they're still planning that Direct to DVD movie.

I dunno. Family Guy has always seemed like a show that manages to come back after setbacks.

I've been a big fan of Family Guy ever since it first aired on FOX and I'm pretty sure it was after a Super Bowl, forgot which one though. I wouldn't be surprised if FOX wanted it again, since it shows that Family Guy is a hot property right now.
I already heard this kind of news a couple of weeks ago, that they're planning on the direct episodes to DVD and maybe even a movie deal, but not the thing with FOX. It'd be great to see Family Guy on TV with new episodes, can't wait to see what happens.

It was after a super bowl. I remember deciding to watch it, and not knowing what to think. It was definitely one of the funniest shows that I'd seen, but some of the subject matter made it seem a little off.
I just chalked it up to the fact that it was the first episode.

Family Guy is the funniest adult animated show of all time. It was a crime that it was cancelled. I hope FG doesn't go back to FOX, they obviously didn't have the brains or the balls to appreciate it when they had the show. I'd like to see it on Cartoon Network (where the reruns are kicking ass) or Comedy Central.
If you don't have the DVD sets, go out to buy them now.

That's great news. FOX completely screwed up handling this show the first time, with constant timeslot changes and repeatedly putting it on hiatus before it could build an audience. It took the Cartoon Network simply showing it in the same timeslot for the show to catch on.
But I heard that Seth MacFarlane is now doing something else. Will he still be involved? (Because without him, these new eps may suck)
