Hoss! Nice to see you arrived home safely. Do you have any cool Meet-up pictures to post? And now I ruined this thread by going off-topic. To get back on topic, I also have a love-hate relationship with that introduction song from my Best Friend's Wedding. I think it's called Wishing and Hoping. I also like that ridiculous up-beat Austin Power Theme Song, though it can get cloying at times. Now tell me that isn't a little bit sick.

I mentioned Lionel Richie earlier in this thread, but someone at the meet-up asked me to be more specific, so here goes:
"Easy". This is my theme song. Which makes sense, since I am Mr. Mellowpants.
"You Are". Just try to listen to this song and not feel good about life. I dare you. Also, one of the best bridges in any song ever.
Are they really stupid songs? Yeah. But they make me happy.

I am getting into a LOT of weird-@$s music now because of Youtube..mostly because I watch alot of AMVs and ppl use weird techno stuf in them.
Currently the two most annoying songs I can think of that are on heavy rotation here are "Cartoon Heros" by Aqua (you know...the Barbie Girl Europ-y techno band?) and Mitternacht by E Nomine ..which is the most 'metal' sounding song I've heard in a LONG time that is metal heavy without any non-techno instruments.

Man, I love "Mitternacht"! I used to dance to that a lot back at the goth/industrial bar here (actually I'll still dance to it, but they don't play it as much as they once did). I even have the CD. It's an awesome song. I also like some other kinda techno-industrial stuff, like Beborn Beton's "Another World" and Die Warzau's "Suck It Up."

Gawd, hundreds. I'm thinking this is about types of musics or artists that you'd normally never ever bother with - but then there's this one (or a few...) song they do that you'll sing and / or dance to, or leave it playing if it comes on the radio, or hang around the shop just because it's playing over the speakers. Yeah. Hundreds. Some are mentioned here already.
So for me that's stuff like - 'Toxic' by Britney Spears, some Take That tunes, some Bros and Wet Wet Wet tunes, that kinda thing. Loads I don't even know who they are by, these sexy-pop songs. YMCA and In The Navy. This one I found on a 2nd hand compilation the other day, 'Phunk Phoolin'. Then there's a different category of 'really stupid songs' - so there I'd put tracks like by Whistlin' Jack Smith, and 'Purple People Eater' and the soundtrack for Grease, that kind of thing.
Now more are coming to mind - rave tracks that use children's TV themes, C+C Music Factory, Deep by East 17, I even started singing 'I Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet' the other day - the Pat & Mick version! Bucks Fizz's Euro entry. The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Labour of Love by Hue & Cry, She Makes My Day by Robert Palmer....do those belong in here, I don't know. Probably. I wouldn't call all of these 'stupid' but I think I see the intent. It's not as if you are embarassed to listen to them, it just feels like there's a 'censor' watching you when you are enjoying them, and trying to make you feel like you ought to be ashamed.
Oh hey - I found (re-found! used to have it, upon release, no idea what happened to the tape) one of my Holy Grail tracks the other day at a charity store - Full Metal Jacket (I Want To Be Your Drill Instructor) by Abigail Mead and Nigel Goulding. I used to listen to that over and over again on my walkman when I was about 10! Love that track.
Oh hey - Spitting Image songs! The Chicken Song, Santa Claus Is On The Dole, The 1st Athiest Tabernacle Choir. They're brilliant!

Something that probably should be deleted, considering that it contains multiple unidentifiable links. It could be an oblivious non-English speaker, but it's probably just a bot. (Not the good kind.) Don't click on those links, just to be safe. Of course, if I'm wrong, my apologies.
