Just a little series of "What If" debates I'd like to try out, see where it goes debate wise.
This first one will be a two-parter:
a) What If....The Beatles Didn't Break Up the way they did in the early 70's....that is, that they managed to keep their tempers in check and mended any problems they had privately to keep going.
b) What if....John Lennon wasn't assasinated in 1980-81? Thus keeping the Beatles together well into the 1990's until George's death from cancer.

Well, then Harry Nilsson would still be alive and well and working in L.A.

And "What If" we finally got that musical discussion forum that we so apparently need? Now, there's a question.

What if Jim Morrison never died!?!?!? Woah............. He'd probably be fat and they'd be making a mediocre reunion album about now.

What if Buddy Holly hadn't died? What if Yoko Ono did? Then Buddy Holly would've stolen John.

Here's one. Instead of the staying together, what if the Ramones split up early? Tensions started in 1980 with the diasterous End of the Century album and Johnny stealing Joey's baby away and marrying her. Easily could have split the band apart. Johnny was thinking of retiring after Clem Burke didn't work out in 1987 as Elvis Ramone. What would have happened? Would Dee Dee have had an illadvised rap career, or done some sucessful writing somewhere? Would he have gone more towards the hardcore new punk? What direction would Johnny go? He wanted to go more hardcore punk in sound, but keep the look. And what of Joey? Could he have been sucessful as a solo artist if he would have been fully healthy after the Ramones split? Where would have his music gone? I don't know, I just started thinking about it one night, and I happened to see this thread at the bottom of the board and clicked it. Think about it, won't you?
