had to go a long weekend without internet or cable, so i spent a lot of time listening to the only radio station available in barrow, which is public radio. i'm all for NPR, but i sat through TWO, count 'em, TWO episodes of car talk. blargh
but i did hear some great music saturday night. really like this album.

In honor of their election to the R&R Hall of Fame, one of my favorite Chicago tracks. Such a great sound on this one. Very Joe Walsh/James Gang guitar playing with some Joe Cocker flavor. And then the horns and harmonies come in. Good times.

I always thought Chicago II was their best album and unfortunately marred by awful engineering on some of the album. I would love to hear songs like "Make Me Smile" with a much wider dynamic range. It seems the drums and the horns really suffered as there is a definite mid-range overkill. Loved the version of this on the Carnegie Hall set. Terry Kath was the man.
