My nephew has "blur" - with Beetlebum and Song 2, I liked it very much.

Some of my favorites-
Power Of Zeus - The Gospel According To Zeus (70) - Massively heavy Psych monster put out on Rare Earth's label.
Amon Duul II - Yeti (70) - Psych/Krautrock album from this German group. Double album, sides 3 and 4 is experimental stuff, but I think the first two sides are their best work.
Neil Merryweather - Space Rangers (74) - Funky Prog/Glam Rock.
Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire De Melody Nelson (71) - Serge was a crazy perv Frenchman, but he had an ear for music. This is like a concept album about him having an affair with a teenage girl. She either gets beamed up by aliens or dies in a plane crash at the end of the album! I've read different interpretations of the lyrics so Im not sure which. Anyway, I don't dig the subject, but the music is incredible. Kind of a mixture of funky rock and easy orchestra over his spoken word bit.
Wordburglar - Burglaritis (06) - SJ The Wordburglar is this MC from Canada. My friend runs his label, but even if he didn't, I would still say Burglaritis was the best Hip Hop album from last year. Aside from his skill as an MC, he is hilarious with a really sharp wit. It's the kind of album that you have to rewind to catch all the jokes and references he fits in.
BTW, I will second the Bloodrock & Love albums. Both are good suggestions.

I thought that Power Of Zeus was all about that one drum break track. I have never heard it before. There's a another psych rock act on Rare Earth's label called Brass Monkey. I can get with Serge; I have heard the LP with Jane Birkin and some various Dusty Fingers and the like comped tracks, but I can't imagine fully enjoying it unless I spoke French. Nice arrangement, though. Anyways...I always have a hard time with "Top 5" lists, but I highly recommend Parliament/Funkadelic's debut to early stuff: Osmium, the self-titled, Maggot Brain. They were such a versitile group. Soul, psych, blues, the slick "party down!" stuff...they did it all. I highly recommend War, as well. World Is A Ghetto, All Day Music...
