I personally love live records. there is a different energy listening to them. Here are a few of my favorites: Live Rust - Neil Young To me this has everything a great live recording should great acoustic numbers too incredible rockers. Bruce Springsteen - Live 1975 – 1985 I remember back when this came out i could wait for it and it didn't disappoint me. California Jam 2 A favorite of mine with some great performance by Santana, Dave Mason, Aerosmith and Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush. The Last Waltz - The Band I love the movie and love the CD. Bursting Out - Jethro Tull Love this album and the best from the group with the classic line-up of Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, John Evan, Barriemore Barlow, John Glascock and David Palmer.

Wait, the Springsteen album dissapointed you, yet you list it among your favorites? (Unless that's just a typo).

Get Yer Ya Ya's Out--The Rolling Stones (best live album ever IMO)
Live At Leeds--The Who

I don't really care a whole lot for live albums. Something gets lost in the translation. I keep wanting to go out and "see" the band and feel that energy with the crowd.
Still, Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison was great and the live cuts I've heard from the Ramones are great (I prefer their live versions for the songs from the first album, over the debut album itself)

I was in college at the time an we were all into Springsteen big time to the point that when we when out to the bar(which was every other night) he all dressed like him with the moose and turned up collars and so forth. Kind of scary thinking about it now but great memories.

I'm a Springsteen fan Broadsword but I am a bit disapointed in the live box set. It completely ignored the original E Street Band lineup. When it comes to live Bruce there are some great bootlegs that blow the official album away. I also love Rust Never Sleeps and The Last Waltz. And Live At Leeds ia awesome, especially the expanded edition. But once again there is a bootleg version that is more complete and unedited. Yes, Leeds does have edits and overdubs.

Aretha Live At The Filmore (the reissue).
She kicked some serious butt.

X, Live At The Whisky A Go-Go On The Fabulous Sunset Strip
Apparently this great live album was once available on CD but no longer. I just finished recording the LP to my computer to make a cdr. A well recorded, great sounding record of a rocking performance. Oh sure, X purists will bemoan the absence of Billy Zoom but you still have John and Excene and DJ and the songs are great and Tony Gilkyson is really very good. Am awesome live record.

The Ramones live are great. It's such a shame what Phil Spector did to End of the Century, as that could have been an awesome album. I wish I could find more decent footage of Richie on drums live, especially doing some of the older Ramones stuff.

A few more live albums that I love. Some Enchanted Evening - Blue Oyster Cult Some great 70's BOC recordings. One for the Road -The Kinks A great, great band that I personally like better then the Stones. Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore - Humble Pie a great album by an almost forgotten band. Steve Marriot was one of the greatest singers ever.
