I can't say I buy his CDs, I don't think I have the money to shell out for comedy ones. Though i may have to pick up one of his better ones in the future. From the songs I've been able to hear, he's an extremely witty guy. I mean the lyrics can't be passed for high satire much of the time, but I enjoy his goofy act. He's one of my favorite acts to come from Dr. Demento. His high speed polka mixes he has on most every albums I've heard all of them, and they always hit for me. His direct parodies are usually always funny to me if the song itself has a good beat or something, but some of his general parodies can be hit and miss depending on my mood. Overall, I enjoy his stuff. Too bad Joel couldn't be in UHF, but I guess that's for Mitchell's Movies.

I met Al at a QD! He was so freakin nice and sighed my ice cream cup. You mean DQ? Was he getting a dilly bar? I'm a fan of Al's. I was worried when pop music took a sharp turn towards hip-hop/rap, but he's been able to flow right along with it. And he can rap reasonably well.

I was heartbroken when he lost both of his parents. Oh, Lord, I read about that--a carbon monoxide leak, wasn't it? I had hoped that was just an urban legend. So it really happened? How very sad. What a shame. Yeah, I read about it when it happened. They were such needless deaths. Poor guy.

Hey guys!
I went to see Weird Al in concert at the PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey last night. It was a three-hour drive to get there, but oh boy, was it ever worth it! Man, he sang a whole buncha songs, including Amish Paradise, Couch Potato, Yoda, and other awesome songs not off his most recent album! It was fantastic. And I'd never been to an amphitheater before, and it was great to see a concert out-of-doors. I'd say that this was probably the best concert I've ever been to. I even got a spiffy 'Straight Outta Lynwood' concert shirt.
He played a song, not on his albums, called "I'm In Love with The Skipper." It was a play on "I'm in Love with a Stripper," and featured, you guessed it, Weird Al as Gilligan. Funny stuff. He filled his costume changes with clips of his celebrity interviews, the Robot Chicken "Weasel Stomping Day," "Ghandi II," and some of that "Trapped At the Drive-Through" video.
Awesome.

I saw him on the "Bad Hair Day" tour back in '96. It was a great, great show.

It's kinda hard for me to go see him, as usually he doesn't show up anywhere near me, but I saw him before on the Running with Scissors tour when he played the Civic Center only an hour away! That was neat.
He sat on my mom's lap while he sang "One More Minute." It was cool.

he sat on your mom's lap? wow, not many people can lay claim to that. i've always been a fan of al's. ever since dare to be stupid came out. he has really grown into his type of art and he deserves much respect for his talent. i was blown away when i saw the video for "all about the pentiums." i had no idea he could rap so well. i have on tape somewhere, his special he did on mtv when he was promoting poodle hat. did any of you all see it? those fake interviews he did with britney spears, justin timberlake, eminem and the best one of all - celine dion. i was rolling on the floor. i never missed al tv when it came on mtv and i wish there were more of them. i remember him talking about his early days in an interview- can you imagine how hard that had to have been? he was talking about one of his first concerts and how people boo'd and threw things at him. he was walking to his car afterwards and saw this little kid, who excitedly asked him if he was really weird al. he said yes, thinking this kid was going to say something great to make the evening worth it, but he just said, "you suck!!"

Well, I have the chance to see him on the 28th, but I don't think I'll go. Concerts are foreign to me, and I honestly haven't listened to him much in years. On the other side, his concerts do sound like a great time, and he's one of the few artists I'm familiar with who is actually touring still.

He really puts on a great show. I've seen him a couple times over the (recent) years and he's easily worth the ticket price. I met him in person once (mid-90s) and he was very nice and personable guy. I'm glad he's sporting a mustache again. The clean-shaven look was just too weird...

For those who don't know, btw. Weird Al was friends with Joel and the role of Philo in UHF was written for him.

Really? I had no idea. I certainly could see Joel in the role.
Haven't listened to Al in a few weeks, starting to get withdraw.

A few weeks back, a local radio station was having a contest to give away Weird Al concert tickets. The DJs would read two lines from a song to the lucky caller, who would then have to correctly identify whether the lyrics were from a song by Weird Al--or a song by Metallica. The best part was that the callers were having such a hard time choosing right that the DJs finally let them have the tickets if the caller got the right answer once out of three tries.
