Anyone listen to them? They're actually what got me into MST3K. They're the dudes that did the cover of MST3K theme song! But anyhoo, they're a surf/space-rock band that are influenced by often forgotten about and old science-fiction movies. Oh, not to mention awesome stage shows. Who can't resist a homemade Tesla coil during a performance, a theremin, or the entire stage show!

You know, I do. They have a pretty decent surf rock sound with wit. Comparable to many of the 60s surf rock bands, but with that faster pace. Kinda like the Ramones' surf rock influenced stuff. They're pretty witty guys and I've come to enjoy their music. I was the opposite and I got into them because of MST3K. Obvious why they haven't cracked any charts, they're a bit too out there, but hell Rob Zombie made it, I guess if surf rock makes a comeback they might make it!

Yeah, who cares if you're big as long as you're having fun!
Star Crunch the guitarist, A.K.A. Brian Causey, actually did the theme song for Jimmy Neutron.
I can't believe how good their live shows are, either. I expected it to sound sort of watered down and not as great with all the effects and whatnot, but it sounded almost the same. Even the theremin "solo" sounded right. Ahhh how I love that band.

Yep, I like Man Or Astroman? quite a bit. Their earlier straight-up surf stuff is pretty good, but I actually prefer their later stuff like "EEVIAC" and "Spectrum Of Infinite Scale".

The day I could play Engines of Difference was probably one of the best days ever... ha, I'm a nerd. I still can't play it quite as fast as them, though.
Come on, SamTaco! What's keeping you!? =P

Come on, SamTaco! What's keeping you!? =P That is a good question. What IS keeping me? Next CD I'll get, will be a MOA-M album.

I also got into them because of MST3K. My 2 favorite albums are "Destroy All Astromen" and "Intravenous Television Continuum"

I love them. The one time I got to see them, my buddy got us kicked out of the show after about 15 minutes when he pulled something off the club's wall.

I'd never heard of them until I decided to start collecting vinyl in '98 and I picked up Intravenous Television Continuum 'cause it looked interesting. I had no idea what it was until I got it home. That's still my favorite one.
Some years later, I got into MST3K and was delighted to discover the little connection that there is there that they have there, y'know.
One of my favorite tracks is called "A Simple Text File". It's on one of the later albums . . . It's a recording of an old dot matrix printer "performing". It's quite cool.

Absolutely!
Everytime "A Simple Text File" comes on in the car, my friends or passengers go, "What is THIS!??" A Spectrum of Infinate Scale was my first album of theirs. I guess I sort of went backwards.
MOAM was the driving force that got me into MST3K. Wooohoo!

Reviving this thread.
I've been a long-time MOAM fan (since 1992, the year they formed which was just before I moved out of Auburn), so I own all of their released albums.
But, lately, I've found that they are excellent workout music (especially for listening to when on a treadmill, elliptical, or exercise bike). Their fun, energetic surf rock just goes so well with exercising. I even put together a mega-mix of their surf-iest songs on my mp3 player for listening to in the gym (I call the mix "Sweatin' to the Astros"). Their music makes going to the gym a lot more enjoyable for me.

I discovered Man or Astro-man? a couple of days before I discovered MST3K, which was definitely a strange coincidence. They're pretty good, I love the guitars and the snippets of old sci-fi films they fit into their songs.
