I've been rediscovering Aimee Mann the past few months BUT I was'nt sure if I was looking forward to her next one. As it was going to have no electirc guitars and be mostly keyboard based with lots of Moog synths.... but the first song "31 Today" is excellent. Due 6/3/08 Here's the artwork and the first video (an odd thing directed by Bobcat Goldthwait... but it has a vcute orange kitten in a tutu in it Mr. Atari will be thrilled to read that! "@#%&! Smilers" CD art and video

In 2008 I'm excited about new albums from Coldplay, Oasis, The Verve, Morrissey and Weezer. D-OH! Don't you hate it when you just post something and it's the last thing on a page and thus, will hardly be read. Sorry.... I'll quote it though because I wasn't aware of the new Weezer CD (I am so out of the loop on current releases any more) And I too will look forward to it, even though it's been years since they've released anything I've loved. But I keep hoping they'll reclaim the magic of the first 2 albums. Come on River's, you can do it!

Looking forward to the new Nick Cave, Dig Lazarus Dig!!! It's already out in Europe, but won't be out here until April 8th or something. The first single is pretty groovy. I've already got it on account of being one of those smelly Europeans you hear about so much! ;D It's bloody brilliant! Raging though as his gig in Glasgow's already sold out. I completely missed the announcement and so another time around goes missed.

Is that Super Roots 9 the live one or is there another one? Want to hear the live one definitely as I saw them a few months back and they are fantastic live, even in a crappy venue!

All the crabby bastards on the Goodson mailing list are decrying it to the high heavens, threatening ritual suicide over its suckiness, and what not (okay, not really). I actually didn't like the single the first time I heard it, but it really grew on me. And frankly, I pretty much love everything Nick's done (other than 75% of Nocturama). And Morrissey's got a new one coming out? Whosa whensa?

Whatever Korn are making next. And it'd better be good - last year's psuedo-heavy-rock/pop-metal left me feeling quite disoriented.

And Morrissey's got a new one coming out? Whosa whensa? Supposedly in the Fall. I think he's got another (!) Greatest Hits album out now, too, with a couple new songs. (Reissue, repackage! LOL)

I also can't wait for Mediocre Generica's new album entitled "Same Old Sh*t"
I hear there are some killer tambourine solo's as well as a special guest performance by Nondescript Brunette Female on Piano.

I'm looking forward to the Weezer album. Mostly, I just want to see if they've managed to pull out of the nosedive they've been in since 2000. Rivers' recent solo release of some old demos was excellent, and hopefully he's letting his past work influence his new material. His recent demo "Pig" was impressive-ish. Here's hoping.
Otherwise, I don't really pay attention to upcoming releases. Isn't U2 coming out with something soon?

Super Roots 9 was recorded live and I think it was before Seadrum was released. I don't think it's all that great but that era of their stuff is by far my least favorite. I'm going to be seeing them next month and I am incredibly excited.

Since the beginning of the year I've been hearing about the new Ben Folds album and it's coming out at the end of this month(Sept. 30) I've already heard most of it via You Tube...it's gonna be awesome! I've already pre-ordered the super deluxe (CD/DVD/Vinyl) set it cost 90$ and it's worth every penny that's how pumped I am about it here are my two favorite tracks from the forthcoming album for your consideration: The Bitch Went Nuts www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV8BpuTfkAsand Hiroshima www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7n2UyiOVGEthis album is more light hearted like Rockin' The Suburbs as opposed to Songs For Silverman...not that it matters too much to me I have loved everything Ben Folds has released be it his solo work or the Ben Folds Five stuff but musically it is a big step forward...you can tell his experiments with orchestras have influenced this album...I for one love it ...on a related note if you happen to be a Ben Folds Five fan...in case you didn't know they are reuniting for a one off show on Sept. 18 good luck getting tickets(it's going to be in Chapel Hill, NC and all proceeds are going to charity) but they are also gonna do a streaming video of it on myspace...they are going to perform Reinhold Messner in it's entirety...since that's only 40 minutes I'm sure they will do other stuff but that's how it's billed but like I said Way To Normal comes out Sept. 30 and it's worth checking out

The Bitch Went Nuts is officially on the album but this was one of the "joke" songs he leaked with lyrics that may or may not be what ends up on the official album...if this is an unofficial version that's too bad...because it is total high concept comedy or unconventional comedy at least all I know is I laughed my a** off when I heard it EDIT:this is probably closer to the "official" version. I like the unofficial better...but this is good too www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsGwa-7kP5g&feature=relatedthere is also a joke song called The Way To Normal that is great but I do know for certain that the versions of You Don't Know Me(feat. Regina Spektor), Cologne, and Hiroshima that are floating around are official...at least all three of those are being used to advertise the new album either on Amazon(Cologne) or on his website(the other two)
