I'm trying to organize the music for my wedding in October, and I have a very specific piece of music in mind for the processional. Unfortunately, I have NO IDEA what it is!
I heard it in the movie Splash ( YES, Splash.) It's a scene early in the second act when Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah are enjoying the wonders of New York, and pass by a string quartet playing on the sidewalk. I adore the piece they're playing, but I cannot discover the name or composer. I've watched the credits for Splash about fifty times and it's not listed anywhere!
I don't know anything about classical music-- all I can go on is that it was played by a string quartet in the movie. If anyone here knows what it is, I'll be eternally grateful (and send you some wedding cake!)

There has been a soundtrack released for this film, but as this review explains, it was a promotional CD and not sold in stores. Is this the piece of music you're looking for? Someone else asked about this at SoundtrackInfo. Soundtrack Q & A Q: What is the classical music played outside at the fountain? A minuet? Do you know the title? There is a quartet playing. (from Linda in nj) A: The second movement from Chopin's Piano Concerto in E Minor Opus 11, also known as "Romance (Larghetto)." Because this source piece seen and heard in the movie is not included on this soundtrack CD, the music cannot be found apart from the film, as it was performed and recorded just for the movie. A similar recording can be found on The Truman Show soundtrack. Wikipedia says the same thing. You can listen to a sample of an orchestral performance of the piece at Amazon. And you can hear even more of it as a Steinway demonstration here. Good luck, and best wishes!

Awesome, thanks everybody! Now, off to the library! I'm sure I can track it down from there.
