So I was fooling around on the computer yesterday, and on a whim I went to Youtube to see if I could hear Death Cab For Cutie's "I Will Follow You Into The Dark." I'd heard snatches of it here and there but never the whole thing. So it starts playing, along with a video that shows sketchbook drawings of two adorable bunnies in love. They are happy until one of them dies. Well. I cried, and I don't mean "Damp Eyes" or "Single Artful Tear." I mean full blown sobbing fit, the kind that puffs your eyes and contorts your whole face. I kept tearing up all day, having to wipe my face with napkins and not even bothering with makeup. I can't get the song out of my head! I still am tearing up at intervals. I've always been one to get sniffly to the most esoteric music, but this one really threw me. What songs have knocked you for such a loop? Whether one you've never heard before or an old favorite that suddenly has new meaning?

That one gets me as well Mrsphyllis. Very powerful. Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt", especially when I see the video. I tend to cry easily, I empathize easily and will relate things in my own life. Hell even Avril has gotten me choked up. There's a song (I guess about her Hubby) where she talks about missing him and his scent on his clothes. And I was likes, cripes, yeah I hear that. It didn't make gushers pour from my eyeballs, but it touched me. I'm an old sap.

No song ever has or ever will make me cry. What about The Theme from The Monkees? And I don't see how he can hear, "Everybody's Talkin at Me", and not burst into tears.

Yeah, "Hurt" is so so sad when Cash does it, isn't it? The shot of June over his shoulder in the video--sniff.
For a NON sad version, go to sadkermit.com. This guy does a mean Kermit the Frog, and his website is really well done Kermit versions of several songs, including Hurt. It's hysterical, gross and disturbing.

The theme song from Lassie made me cry when I was a kid. So did the Oscar Meyer commercials.

The only time I really cried from a song was when my mother was dying of cancer. I was called to the hospital for last goodbyes and all that and had Jim Croce playing. The song Time in a Bottle came on and I lost it. Had to pull over to the side of the road and let my wife drive the rest of the way.

There are many, as I experience bouts of extreme depression. But the one that comes to mind right now is A Perfect Circle's cover of Imagine. Sometimes the tears are of hope. Most of the time they are of despair. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpqKA9_ddFk&mode=related&search= Also, Alice in Chains' Don't FollowColin Hay's acoustic OverkillJeffrey Gaines' cover of In Your EyesKleenex anyone?

Here's a short list. "Time In A Bottle" by Jim Croce. "Angel Flying to Close to the Ground" by Willie Nelson. "Mona Lisas And Madhatters" by Elton John.
Those are about the only three I can think of. There's some others that probably bring a tear to my eye, but, these are the only three that I can think of that have ever made me break down and lose it. All for their own seperate reasons and only at certain times, but, they still tear me up.
Yeah, I'm a big wuss.
