Let's see, Losing My Dignity (One of the great missing ones) turned me onto Loves "Forever Changes". It took me a while before I bought it and I bought it blind. Took it home and with each track I was left breathless. Just a pitch perfect album in every way and once it was done I immediately hit replay. CD ranks #2 between Revolver and Rubber Soul as my favorite album of all time. "Good Dog bad Dog" by Over the Rhine This I discovered via Mr. Atari's Favorite albums list. This is simply a beautiful album, pretty melodies, almost flawless (I hate to make fun of someone's speech patterns, but the vocalist can't pronounce her "R"s, and when she strings together a line with a lot of them "Twace you'e Bwoose like a guilty stweek", I can't help myself, Madelene Kahn in Young Frankenstein pops into my head damn it!) - Other than that this is a work of art (Oh and I got the remastered version. A review I read said that the songs flowed and fit together better on that version) Lets see, what else. Krista introduced me to Alice Donut and Hugh Beaumont, in an back assward kind of way turned me onto 2 of my favorite Cd's. He was praising Fiest and dissed the Decemberists. I listened to Fiest, thought it was okay but didn't light a spark under me. I said what the heck, lets see what the Decemeberists are about.... and loved it. From there it was recommended that if I liked the "Crane Wife" CD that I'd love who they drew inspiration from, Neutral Milk Hotel. "It's even better" I was told, and by God it was and that album also made my top 10. Thank you one and all for contrbuting nicely top my music collection.

No, I get all my music from boards with better taste.
;D
Actually, I can't recall if I found anything through this place. It may have happened once or twice. Nothing too life-altering, though. My most significant influences came from some "real-life" friends who introduced me to Weezer and the Pixies.

As I mentioned in my review, it's what you'd imagine an artsy black and white photo would sound like. "Poughkeepsie" and "Happy to Be So" are absolutely gorgeous songs that have brought me to tears more than once. (I also prefer the re-issue version, if that's the one with "It's Never Quite What it Seems.") Thanks to this board, I discovered Muse. Some folks were arguing about how great they were/how much they suck, and a comment was made about how everyone's heard of them. Since I like to be included in "everyone", I figured I'd better track them down. And I found that I agree with the, "they're great" side of the argument. Especially Absolution. Just an awesome album. I should add it to my thread. I also discovered ELO's Time album here on Captain Hygiene's recommendation, one of the few ELO albums that works for me. The godfather of all digital-rock, coming years before Radiohead and The Flaming Lips. I have enjoyed My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade more than I thought I would. And I definitely wouldn't have sought it out without Mighty Jack's recommendation.

I've got Absolution and like it a lot, there are a few songs that are just okay, but overall it works . My friend complained that they were lifting from Radiohead, which is true, there are a few direct steals. But hell, even Lennon lifted material. I'd be a hyprocrite if I let that bother me.

His voice is an uncanny copy of Yorke's. But I think their arrangements and songwriting are very different than Radiohead's. They're far more prog-rock to me than emo-digital. I read a review that said they were like Radiohead if Radiohead decided to turn up and play rock. But if you're going to steal, steal from the best. That's my motto.

Thanks to MJ/Lincoln Hayes I've just bought The Zombies Odessey And Oracle. Thanks for recommending this wee gem! I'd have gotten it sooner but there was a delay in the new remastered edition turning up locally and the previous ones were all gone thanks to being out of print.

Well thanks and thank God. I can't believe it's just me and Mr. A? Okay class, todays assignment.... go to one of the thousands of lists threads and listen to every CD until you find one you like. Then report back to me here. Gee, just listening to Krista and Skyroniter's stuff at the social network is filling my ears with I stuff I need to check out (and I did order a CD from "Turn Me On Dead Man" Krista, thanks)

God Bless the Electric Freak - I think I'll like it, I've enjoyed what I sampled so far. I ordered it with another Muffs CD (I'm on a feverish Muffs kick lately)

Ohhhh yes, God Bless the Electric Freak is my favorite.
I like every song on there. Except "Apocalypse Rock." But everything else is awesome!

I've brought this up before, but I had a friend give me his copy of Jeff Buckley's Grace because he couldn't stand it. It sat around for a couple of months until I saw it on Mr. Atari's list and decided to put it on. Wonderful stuff.
