Now with half the fat! So what do YOU think their first movie will be? Let’s look at the few crumbs of information we have. As per Joel over at www.cinematictitanic.com/, “it's very rare, it's very strange, and it's of questionable quality.” Also, “it makes “Manos the Hands of Fate” look like “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” in a car wreck with “Eegah!” with notes of peach.” Slashdot slashdot.org/articles/07/10/31/139231.shtml mentions that they have secured the rights to 12 movies, which is an interesting tidbit. Does this mean that they will be newer films or will they be “classic” bad movies? Also the world premier will be a live private show at Industrial Light and Magic. How if at all is Lucas Arts involved in this project? There are rumors floating around that this could signify that the first film they riff will be the legendary “Starwars Holliday Special”. What do you think the first movie will be? What do you hope it will be? For myself, I am a fan of the old sci-fi/horror movies MST used to riff above all the other genres. I think Reptilicus would be a great first offering. That or From Hell it Came! (The killer tree movie!)

I think, with the hints that have been dropped so far, it's just about certain that it will be the Star Wars Holiday special.

It is just in time for Christmas after all... and I'm sure Lucas would be happy to get any return on that turd LOL

Hey guys,
I will never give anything away, but I hate to see the excitement that seems to be building up here based on the speculation that the movie will be the Star Wars Holiday special. It's not.

Thank you for derailing that rumor, Rad. I had hopes myself, but Lucas is with that special, like Mallon is with the first three KTMAs.
As far as what's first...don't care, BRING IT ON!

That leaves some intriguing possibilities. Could it be Howard The Duck?

Could it be Howard The Duck? Good heavens I hope not. Correct me if I'm wrong, 'cause I know nothing about these things, but if they're actually licensing the movies wouldn't they be more likely to choose older and more obscure MST-like titles? (That's my hope, anyway.)

I've always wanted the MST crowd to do A Christmas Carol. There are some very old versions that would be great to riff.

Howard the Duck is a crappy film, but it isn't so bad that it matches Joel's description: “it's very rare, it's very strange, and it's of questionable quality.” Also, “it makes “Manos the Hands of Fate” look like “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” in a car wreck with “Eegah!” with notes of peach.” Besides Howard the Duck and the Holiday Special, I can't think of any unreleased project that Lucasfilm has out there.
This mystery will drive me mad! It will eat at my mind when I should be teaching needy children during my day job.

(That's my hope, anyway.) George Lucas was Executive Producer on HTD...hence the connection.

It may not have anything to do with Lucas at all... he's just premiering it for ILM, doesn't necessarily mean it's one of theirs.

In that case, uh...Night of the Lepus? It's an MGM film, so it would probably be hard to get the rights to that, but that would be awesome. I mean, come on...giant killer mutant bunnies. Can't go wrong with that.

Campster on the SomethingAwful thread about this has another intriguing theory. Whoever said they needed ILM/Lucas Art's permission to do the first movie?!?
