Nice interview. I guess this "Flecks" club within LucasFilm is the reason Joel is involved... not because of riffing a Lucas film necessarily? I'm still confused.
And Joel just said he in fact DOES make money off the DVD sets... so it's not just Mallon after all?

Yay! Cool read. ;D
Heh, that's usually my attitude as well...except for Batman and Robin...that one still makes me angry like WOAH. But anyway, statements like the above always manage to conjure up an image of Joel as some kind of peaceful movie-riffing monk. Maybe a Riff-Jedi. Or something. I dunno. I'm such a nerd. *wavy hand gestures* This isn't the post you're looking for. Movie along. :B

So wait wait wait- is this a confirmation of Zardoz? Or was that just an example of the level of badness we should expect?

It's terrific to have a nice long Joel interview. I really didn't know what all he had been up to in these past years, so it's great to find out he's been doing so much. This remark of Joel's seems especially noteworthy. (Emphasis added.) "Well, this is a fortunate byproduct of being the creator of Mystery Science Theater. Besides making money every time someone buys a box set of DVDs, I also get paid to come up with ideas. " So Joel does make money off the DVDs! That's good to hear.

I really do wonder if all that stuff in his backyard is really for his kids, or if it's actually for Joel (perhaps Frank) to play in. Neat little interview!

Those are nice jeans.
What a nice thing to read after a night of roller skating concertness, energy-drink beer and delicious diner food!

I guess we all forgot (me included) about Joel being one the original creators and yes that would mean that he is entitled to mst3k profits.

I want to see the KTMA sell tape he talked about, the best jokes from KTMA put together. that sounds glorious and amazing.
and honestly, it seems the Lucas tie was explained, so I doubt the movie with be from Lucas.
Cool interview.

That tape is part of the MST Scrapbook video. It starts when they show the KTMA opening again, and then there are some host segments and the theater segments, and I think there were some KTMA commercials for the show too.
