I just hope that we see more than four movies in 2008 (since I'm pretty sure that the "Film Crew" is dead). I recall reading somewhere that they'd already licensed 12 movies (hopefully most with download rights!). If I'm not imagining that, then an episode a month would seem likely - anything more is getting greedy, anything less is a lot of advance planning. Though given the trouble they had getting rights as mst3k's rep grew and preceded them, maybe if they had the chance to grab several years' supply of films at once, they'd have snatched it. I hope you are correct, since having a new DVD each month would be cool. I'm pretty sure that there are plenty of bad movies out there that they can grab for nothing or very little money for the rights.

But the more I think about it, the more I suspect the host segments will be in shadowrama. If they had 'regular' segments, they'd have probably included them in the trailer. I still think it might be a little awkward to do it all in the theater. It would need to be done like that one continuous take in Goodfellas, or at least look that way. Plus it'll feel like they've got their backs to the camera, even if they don't. You're probably onto something when you mention that the show will at lest "look like" one continuous take. I suspect a lot of computer magic is going to go into this show with regards to editing. The crane scene likely had no real crane in use. Not to mention the obviously unreal chandeliers that came down in that other section of the trailer. Matching up one take of the show to another is likely a seamless process. Especially when using only simple silhouettes.

Once a month would be great. I think Rifftrax cranked them out too fast. I gave up on keeping up with Rifftrax but I do want to keep up with CT.

Once a month would be great. I think Rifftrax cranked them out too fast. I gave up on keeping up with Rifftrax but I do want to keep up with CT. I agree. The one good thing about Rifftrax is that they provide many options. I keep waiting for them to do some movies that I own or am very interested in seeing. CT is a whole different animal. I probably will end up buying them all as they come out. I wish they were a little cheaper, but I can't complain too much. I still don't have all TFC DVDs due to price (although now I just ordered Giant of Marathon so am only missing Hollywood After Dark). At least if you don't order the DVDs CT will be less expensive. I do miss getting a nice DVD case that looks real nice up on my shelf, though. Excellent insights from all. I guess the one thing that remains to be seen in the final product is if we'll be getting host segments out of shadowrama. I really hope so! But it's great to have the shadows back, we lost that in TFC and Rifftrax. It provides for another level of connection with the riffers, and here it also looks like they are using it for a number of visual gags (which I was always a fan of and wished were done more often on MST3K).

Also starring the Zignomic Institute's puppet 'tomatons! Actually, I believe Joel owns Gizmonic, which is why they replaced it with the Deep 13/Dogbone logos after he left.

I have one of Joel's old newsletters and here's what he has to say regarding the rights to Gizmonic:
"I own the name Gizmonics and the "G" as a trademark. When I left the show it was still available to the show at no charge. For some reason Jim Mallon didn't want to use it."
There's lots of stuff in the newsletter that, in hindsight, makes for some very interesting reading. Plus in the Q&A he answered my question!

Thanks for the info, oriana. In the end, it was probably smart of Jim to remove the Gizmonic stuff from the show. You don't want to be messing around with someone else's trademark when you're on difficult terms with that person. Could mean trouble down the road.

Interesting, I never knew that. But GI hadn't really been mentioned on the show since season one (it was only mentioned with any regularity, because the mad segments were set there, in the KTMA yearrs) besides the "Big G" door and theme song. Where would it have really fit in besides being on the door or in the theme? (though Mike never really worked for Gizmonic) I'm guessing they wanted to change the set and make things a bit more fresh, but I think that was a mistake as that set was classic. In hindsight, I guess it kinda makes sense.

Whoa, I just realized: That's JOSH standing at the top left, not Joel. Gosh, am I that slow? I always thought that was always Joel. Just noting that..

Looks like the whole thing is done in silhouette. Including host segments.
