Put the discs in DVD cases, with cover art. And make them available through retailers like Amazon and Deep Discount. That's all I ask, all I need. P.S. CineTit, CineTit, CineTit! So you want them to start their own DVD distribution company? I would rather have them worry about writing and performing then running a studio. I suppose someone could distribute them for them but then they would have a say in the releases and if CT needs a delay to make the material better they might not get it if they have to make retail street dates and have a suit giving them notes. Having it be on Joel's terms is fine by me.

That is what we do with non-Rhino eps. We have been "circulating the tapes" in a similar fashion for years. I personally prefer the option to create the packaging with artwork that appeals to me personally. Besides, it keeps the cost of the final product as low as possible. Hugh, in the time it took you to create you X-mas avatar, you could have created your own artwork for your Cinetit DVD.

I'd simply like to see Joel on the top tier of the silhouette where he belongs.

I got a nice reply to my feedback from EZTakes about the PayPal issue last week. They are working to have that in place sometime next year (2008).

You know, I've finally decided: I'm not buying any Cinematic Titanic episodes until they put it in proper packaging. For $16, I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation. I mean, essentially, I'm paying full DVD price for what is effectively a burned DVD. Not okay.
That said, if they come out with a really compelling film, then I may try one out. Otherwise, not yet.

I'll have a lot more fun sticking to my principles and not getting raped in the wallet. I think it's a substandard way for EZTakes to do business. As such, I choose not to pay for their product. Simple. The content of the product, the "fun," doesn't really play into it. If the DVD consisted of Jesus Christ riffing on Batman & Robin, I still wouldn't pay that much for a burned DVD. I burn(ed) DVDs all the time. When I buy new content, I expect it to be packaged and presented as such.

I'll have a lot more fun sticking to my principles and not getting raped in the wallet. That doesn't sound like much fun to me. The content of the product, the "fun," doesn't really play into it. To me, that's the ONLY thing that matters. I don't have that many hobbies/interests, so I spend wildly on them to fulfill my need for quality entertainment. It's okay though, we can agree to disagree. I'm not trying to change your mind, just trying to help you take a lighter view and enjoy things. Life is short...

I admire your restraint, Hugh. $16 seemed way high for a burned DVD to me too, until I started thinking of how many people are involved. I remember someone at Rifftrax explaining the $1 increase for each ep that Bill C. participates in, and I thought that was fair, so if I figure $1 per actor plus $3 shipping and it's already $8; they're certainly DIYers, but they still must have some employees to pay; plus the cost of the whole stage/green screen and all that can't be too cheap to keep up. All that said, though, it's hard to argue with the fact that I can go buy commercial releases with cover art and extras and free shipping for $10 at Amazon.

Perhaps these high prices for "a burned dvd" is a way to get the $$$ generated to really get the project off the ground. More widespread distribution will be necessary for this to grow beyond a core audience and to be viable. And that means cases and Amazon and such.
