I have no problem with that. I can always make my own keep case covers. Actually, packaging it in a sleeve and using a DVD-R instead of a professional pressing plant cuts down on packing materials. Sorry. I'm into the whole carbon neutral thing.

Sorry. I'm into the whole carbon neutral thing. I just printed a thousand copies of your post on photo quality paper and used them to create a bon fire in my back yard. The odor from the ink is really quite strong.

Oh yeah I fully expect that if CT doesn't provide them, there will be plenty of options, the stack of covers made for each RT show there are plenty of people with the skill and the will to make them! I just wish it wouldn't end up costing extra money, even a little, when my $16 really ought to cover it. A small complaint, but still a nuisance.

yeah $16 is waaaay too much. I also saw that it will cost $13 just to download it. Uh, no thanks. Thats more than a movie costs on Itunes. I have a feeling it might become available through other means if they keep that pricing

We've got here five performers watching and meticulously scripting a performance, that they film on a set. They pay for the rights to the films they are including, and I'm sure they've also got a small crew of behind-the-scenes folks (building the set, filming the shadowrama, editing, etc etc) When you consider that The Film Crew sold for $15 (or more) a show, and that MST DVDs sell for $50 for a 4-pack (or about $12 an episode... and this is for a show that has already been made!), is $13 for CT really all that unreasonable? I think you get quite a lot of value for what amounts to, essentially, the price of a dinner out at a restaurant, or a trip to the theater and a popcorn.

I have a feeling it might become available through other means if they keep that pricing A) Movies on iTunes can't be burned to DVD B) Movies on iTunes aren't DVD quality. C) Movies on iTunes are generally well on their way to making back their costs, if they haven't already done so, having made millions at the box office. D) Movies on iTunes don't have Joel, Trace, Frank, Mary Jo, and J. Elvis riffing on them, some of them doing this for the first time in 15 years. This is a new project trying to make back its initial investment. Buying it will help them improve their offerings (new distributor, perhaps, with printed DVDs?) and lower their prices over time. It can be compared, also, to making a store at CafePress.com. The prices can only go so low when you're using someone else's expertise and materials to distribute your product. There are economic realities here that you're failing to grasp. If you pirate it, put simply, you suck. Choosing not to buy it is one thing -- your reasoning may not be sound, but at least you're making an honorable choice. But getting the benefit of the laughter without paying the people behind that laughter (and the distributor who is trusted by those people to disseminate the product) is just wrong.

E) Movies (or tv shows) on iTunes don't give residuals to the writers.

The Film Crew and MST dvds werent just DVD-r's in white sleeves. You got the a pressed dvd in a case. I would pay less for a Divx(not DRM) of it,i dont really need the VOB files.

They deserve the money. I'll pay it.
Not dissing anyone who doesn't want to pay that much. But these guys are worth every penny to me and I doubt they are trying to gouge us. Plain white sleeve is fine with me, the price is fine with me. If that's what it takes to cover their costs, etc and keep this show in production, then I'll gladly pay it.
Ps: and before anyone says, "that's fine for you rich fans" - This is coming from a guy who's dirt poor.

I do really hope that the Titans are getting a big hefty chunk of the proceeds from these discs. I've heard that if writers/ performers get anything from DVD sales, they get maybe anything from thirty cents to no more than a dollar. I sure wouldn't want to pay like this for most of my entertainment. But as others have already said, it's Joel and Trace and Josh Elvis and Frank and Mary Jo. Like L'Oreal, they're worth it.

I would be very surprised if this project isn't owned by Joel, Josh, Trace, Frank and Mary Jo (not necessarily equally but someone has put up some cash), and they get everything (minus expenses of course), unlike a studio project where they would only get the minimum they were entitled too.

Agreed. God bless the internet.
