As I read dnaldy's comment , here :

Heh, I felt like that a little bit too. But then I thought, typical of Joel to place himself in the most retiring position, isn't it? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I realized , OMG , we get to discuss Joel & the other Titans as they currently do stuff !! I mean , this board burst forth in 2003 , right ? I don't know how long the Sci-Fi board that mothered it was around , but was there anyone on a Discussion Forum weighing in on the weekly , or monthly adventures of Joel & friends in `93 ??
It's an admittedly basic thought that only just hit me , but it seems like a ripe vine to help us kill the week and a half of CT pacing we're in for.
Sure , we've posted links to interviews , and marveled at the fresh perspectives of members who were just catching up with years 0 thru 5 , but this is new, man !
"Fresh silhouetted Joel riffing !"
As a side-note , I was close to posting a thread asking the newer generation of members who only see the early years as they catch up on history , what does CT mean to you ? ( so far )

Good point. I know I didn't get internet til the sci-fi boards though I was watching the show since about season 2 or 3. Obviously, there were folks around back then, (dare I mention the flame-war?) but whether they're still around today, who knows. To me, CT is like a return to late Season 1, early Season 2. Josh is there. (who really grew on me, season 1 is now a favorite.) Frank is there. It really is a new beginning. Just a great feeling, really. Maybe, because they WERE away for so long. The rifftrax folks never seemed like they were away. The books, the Legend films, TFC, RT. This seems more like a legitimate rebirth.

I was a member of MST3K groups on both AOL and Compuserve back as early as '93. The flame wars were not pretty. However, back in those days the real MST discussion was on the newsgroups. People were passionate beyond belief.
I look forward to healthy (non flame) discussions about the compete-ting(?) groups.
BTW, if anyone was around back then, my screen names were BestBrains22 and Cornfed.
On a side note, spellcheck told me that competeting isn't a word. It's alternative doesn't seem correct to me.......

"competing" correct looking or not.

Heh, I forgot about all those other groups. I was mainly on the Prodigy BBs first (for KITH and MST3K) before I finally found my way to the internets.

Wow , Now see , I had no idea !
I don't want this to focus on Web-History ( as cool as that is ) , but I got my first computer in March `06 ! So I wouldn't know this stuff. I see allusions to "back then" n' all , but it's more then enlightening to watch you guys remember !

Yeah I can see where Cinematic Titanic and Rifftrax will become the 21st century equivalent of the 20th century Joel vs. Mike flamewars. Which means... damn good times.

As much as some of us don't (or do) want to see this happen, at least there's a legit reason to discuss it because they're actually competing now. Before it was a pointless circle-jerk over which host you preferred. Now it'll be about which project has the better current release (which really is still a matter of personal subjectivity, but hey..) I anticipate a number of "This weeks' RiffTrax is funnier than the most recent CT" and/or vice-versa.

Oh Lord , How did this become an anticipation of "CT vs.RT" ? I guess it's there under the surface , waiting . . . and it 's a natural juxtapositioning, but lordy ! My main point ( * grabs wheel , attempts to make for warmer waters* ) was how deeply cool it'll be to have fresh silhouetted Joel ( & Titans ) to banter about. Perhaps that's a concept that has to get going first to become real ?

I first got online in 2000, just as MST3K had ended, and I didn't start watching the show till five or six years later. Missed everything, offline and online! So this is all new and exciting to me, my first experience with New Joel and whatnot!

Well, I didn't start using the internet until.. I dont even know when, but I was too young back in the day to use a computer at all. I'm new to posting with MSTies, but not to the show itself, so talking about it in real time is definitely cool. As for what CT means, it just means I get to hear them riffing on stuff that is relevant again. It was hilarious hearing that Amy Winehouse reference, it made this all very real. Trace was always my fave, so getting to hear his voice riffing stuff, thats NEW is spectacular.

Even though I watched MST3K from seasons 2-7 way back when (including some MST Hours broadcase on the weird UHF channel around here), I never participated nor lurked on a related forum before this one. I missed all that Joel-vs.-Mike stuff, so that's mere legend to me.
