Wasn't the lead up to the launch of Cinematic Titanic exciting? Even when the website wasn't updated, we (well me anyway) would constantly check it in the hopes that some new little tidbit would be thrown at us (me).
So I've ordered my DVD, and now...I wait. I must confess, I'm kinda sad that I can't look forward to the updates anymore...at least, not for a while.
I dunno, Joel is such a mystery, and I wish we could know a bit more about him! Get some sort of glimpse into his daily life! If only he blogged regularly like Mike, Bill, or Mary Jo...
I guess that's the life of a rabid fan. Throw me a bone and I'll want the whole skeleton...
Does anyone else feel this way?

Dont get too excited, he will leave this project after a couple years too, citing artistic differences.

Despite being a "reluctant performer", Joel knows the first rule of show biz: "always leave them wanting more." p.s. for those of you who have many blogs and the like you feel the need to check compulsively, look into a feed reader like bloglines

Since there's no Jim Mallon here, I imagine it's more likely he'll just have a new idea for something odd, get distracted and wander off to build it. Joel seems the "wander around and build things" type.

Maybe we need to nail Joel's feet to the floor so he can't wander. It'll make him much easier to track

I would expect someone who once went by "Agent J" to be quite the mysterious fellow. A rebel playing by his own rules.

Wow, a facetious suggestion of bodily harm, and the name Agent J right next to each other... It really is flashback time!!!

Well, I don't want to criticize CT's FIRST venture, as they can still iron things out. But I will say it did bother me, for some reason, when they started out, and were updating all the time, telling us this and that, and I guess it felt to me a little premature. (Just a long time before we would see product.) I don't know. Now I think of it, and they could have had some of the interview stuff closer to the release date of the project. Like a slow build up. I could be wrong. It just felt like a month before...boom..boom..boom...and then, nothing. Ah, I can't word this right! Right now, I'm just glad the dvd will be shipped of sometime next week YAY! ;D As far as Joel himself, he is a very personal man, and likes it that way. (Did you notice all the in depth interviews going on with many of the mst3k people this year, and never with Joel?) I remember in a Q&A he did back in the late 90s, some one asked him something very trivial and he just wouldn't answer it because it had nothing to do with what he does. Those things he finds unimportant, as far as us enjoying his work, and the kind of thing that makes him (and many of us,) hate the Hollywood System.

Yea, we have entered the great period of suck. No updates on the website. 1 to 2 weeks before we have a product.
And after we have worn out our discs of "Oozing Skull", we will be eagerly anticipating the news of the next release with daily website checks. (Or worse.)
It would be great if they could say right off the bat, "a new movie the third tuesday of every month", but I realize that's not likely. Give us something to look forward to instead of this weird, self-imposed state of limbo. (And I truly believe it is self-imposed. When you get right down to it, we're torturing ourselves.)
I think a simple weekly update to the website would be easy enough to do, and would work wonders for quelling the masses.
Hell, I was giddy even when they just posted that bizarre cranberry relish recipe. I'll take more stuff like that. Just let us know that someone's there!

They need a webmaster that's not Joel. Though in their defense, they were hoping for that early December release date and realizing new ideas for the product obviously had to take priority over updating a website. And of course, now the main page needs to stay up so that they can redirect traffic to EZTakes to purchase their product. They need a page redesign, honestly. Blog style isn't going to work forever when you're trying to sell a product.

Blog style isn't going to work forever when you're trying to sell a product. Agreed. They probably need a site similar to Rifftrax's site. A page of your current content, blogs (if possible) and an active forum. The forums here and at Rifftrax are a great place for fans to gather and discuss their products and create a sense of community. Having this site and Rifftrax's site to be your only forums for discussion among your fans is (hopefully) only a temp thing. I cannot imagine CT's business model is to let Rifftrax handle your forum for you. That would be like Coke relying on Pepsi's message boards to keep your community happy. Heck, I bet if they asked people here for volunteers to design their site and be forum moderators, you would get dozens of people who would do it for free just for the love of the product. I think this is where we need RAD to pass on a message if he is willing!

Does anyone else feel this way? It'll probably never happen, but I'd love for Joel to write a book about his life, his days with MST3K, etc. The fact that he didn't contribute to the "Amazing Colossal Episode Guide" always made it seem a little incomplete to me because we didn't have his unique perspective.
