I used the link in the latest update to email Josh the promo-guy. What have YOU done to help?
Heres what I sent on 1/3/08:
Hi Josh, Joel's latest update mentioned you're looking for ways to promote Cinematic Titanic.
I'm a Sirius Satellite Radio listener, and on Friday nights they broadcast a live 3 hour talk show called Fangoria Radio.
Its a show devoted to all things Horror-related, like new movies and TV shows. It's hosted by rocker Dee Snider and scream queen Debbie Rashon. They usually have directors, producers and actors as guests.
Since the first CT is featuring a Horror movie, I think it might be worth a try to get in touch with them. They could just let their listeners know about CT, or better yet, do an interview with one or more of Cinetit's cast.
They also have a trivia contests where callers can win prizes, usually newly released Horror DVDs. With three hours to fill every week, this seems like a "no-brainer".
Get it? Brains of Blood / The Oozing Skull... No Brainer?
Sorry.
Yours truly,
John Wall
a.k.a. Bix Dugan
PS- Sirius now has over 6 million subscribers, thanks to Howard Stern. I've heard several Howard "riffs" on MST3K (# 705- Escape 2000 for one) so there is a connection. You might want to check their advertising rates. A 30 second spot could do wonders...
But under no circumstances attempt to get Joel & Company on Howard's Show. His ego versus their wit? Think matter / anti-matter...
Edit: Maybe I'll contact Fangoria directly also. I called in and got a shot at the trivia question once. I blew it, of course...Stupid! Stupid!

You did not actually write "Cinetit's". Oh my word. I can't believe you did that. On a more positive note, that's a really great idea you suggested. Think I should write in to suggest NPR's "Fresh Air"? They do a lot of entertainment spots.

First thing is to get people their orders so they can rave about to everyone. That's got to be some cheap promotion right there!

I can't claim authorship of "Cinetit", but I'm sure I heard it here first.
If its really offensive to anyone, we should discuss it.
Moderators?

I don't think it's actually offensive to anyone; though most of us probably say the "tit" part wrong; it's just sparked a (semi)playful feud over which abbreviation is correct. If a Titan uses CT, then I will too.

I'm offended by the overcomplicating of what should be a simple abbreviation. Anyway, I still think the best promotion would be producing a couple of extra shorts and host segments and posting them on YouTube or MySpace. Anywhere, but YouTube, MySpace, or one of the very high profile video services (and even then, compared to the other two), would be a waste. Posting it on their own website would be a complete waste as anyone visiting would likely have already made up their mind on whether they're buying a CT or not. YouTube is very high profile. Hell, Brookers gets seven million hits for her dumb poopie, Joel could get eighty billion-cachillion if that's how it rolls over there. There are MANY shorts that are public domain. They could probably even nab an old cartoon (especially if they were willing to license from the same guy that Frank does Cartoon Dump with, name escapes me at the moment). I'd love to see cross promotion with RiffTrax or MST3K.com (but I see the latter extremely unlikely, otherwise the damn thing might be back). Hell if that costs too much, post an interview with the cast members, or behind the scenes featurettes. Do you think I should bother them with this stuff? Or is it probably a waste of time for them?

Well, I haven't the confidence to suggest something, though I will ensure word of mouth. I have a blog, and go on message boards, I'll probably have a weird CT related signature, or something. Use the internet, guys, use the internet hard!

I swear to God if I see any more discussion on the stupid freaking abreviation I'm just gonna call them "Rifftrax-Wannabes" and you're gonna have to be happy with that! JUST CALL IT WHATEVER YOU WANT. Sorry, I needed to get that off my chest. There are MANY shorts that are public domain. They could probably even nab an old cartoon (especially if they were willing to license from the same guy that Frank does Cartoon Dump with, name escapes me at the moment). Jerry Beck, and I like this idea! Seriously, the cartoons...it's such a head trip. They're pretty funny in their own right, but actual riffing would be the icing on the cake. I would love to see them riffing on a cartoon I saw at one of the live performances called "Super President" (see, it's this superhero, and he's also the President of the United States, and he has a weenie little sidekick, and it's all psychadelic, and...look, it would just be awesome, okay!?)

Another freebie riff that I thought would be neat, is since we have Joel/Trace/Josh back in the same room, is the final two chapters of Commando Cody. The penultimate chapter is a highlight reel, so it would catch everyone up, and let them do some riffs they came up with after twenty years. Then give us the conclusion we'd all wanted.

I agree on the riffing a short for free idea. Old time fans of MST will obviously just need to hear about the project and they'll be instantly sold, but we need a way to capture fresh blood too and that would work brilliantly. Put it up on YouTube, link it to sites like Digg and Slashdot, and BAM! Watch the new fans be totally enamored, laughing, and wanting to buy some of this Cinematic Titanic stuff...

...Commando Cody...Then give us the conclusion we'd all wanted. Yes, thank god! Someone else to stand beside me and shout to the heavens, "Give us our Commando Cody closure! GIVE IT!" Seriously, though, I always thought the Cody shorts were grade A stuff. Nipple, nipple, tweak, tweak, fly! Perfect fodder for a Cinetit production! Okay, now I've gone too far.
