I finally got my copy today and lo and behold it is a pressed disc not a DVD-R!!!
I guess they couldn't handle the burden of burning them all and sent it out to be manufactured.

It sure is a good thing. I e-mailed eztakes about it and this is what I got back:
I'll gladly pay the extra $3 for pressed discs. Now if we could get an official cover....

I think we finally have the explanation for why there was such a delay in getting these shipped! And I quite agree, I will be happy to pay the extra cost to get a real DVD. That is vastly superior in quality to something I burn myself and label with a sharpy. ;-) Hopefully they let you download AND order the DVD (I'm pretty sure you could ordinarily download even when you order the DVD on the side). That way you don't need to wait, but you still get a nice pressed disc. :-) Glad to see they're going out of their way to do this right. Thanks, Winky!

Odd... it seems to me that it should be perfectly logical to let you still download when you order the DVD... I mean, you could download and burn your own DVD, isn't this the same, except having them burn it for you, and then ship it to you? (Hey, BigStoopid, something else to ask your good pals next time you call!)

Do you think they 'normally' just put it on a DVD-R for any of the other low budget stuff they offer to ship? I just wonder if the demand for this was so high (for them) that it got farmed out to somebody else (the .com listed near the center hole on the disc) better equipped. ??

Then what happens when the disc breaks during shipping? If it's just a DVD-R then they just send out a new one. But since they are now farming out for more real discs, I can see some problems when it breaks.
It also explains the two zip codes on the "package". I was wondering why it was taking so long to come in.

1. I suspect they had extra discs pressed, eh?
2. They could always just burn a replacement disc for the few that might be damaged in shipping.

I MIGHT be willing to pay for a pressed disc even if downloads are available, but I would REALLY like better packaging. My disc didn't have any scratches, but it did have a haze of scuffy, smudginess on it that didn't wipe off--like it had been stacked under 1000 other pieces of mail with out anything protecting it except for a paper thin piece of, uh, paper.
