Will there be a Ipod version? I ran the idea by Trace and he seemed intrigued. Hopefully, they'll do what Rifftrax does and offer an all-inclusive download package. You pay one price, and you get an iPod version, a standard video file, DVD files, etc. I doubt that will happen, but that would be the best thing they could do. Wasn't that just for the one short? Seems like most, if not all, of their video releases are just in DivX format.

Besides, they already offer both the DivX file and the mp3 commentary, and for their normal releases, they offer both the mp3 and the .riff file, for the Rifftrax DVD Player. My point is, they don't force you to pay for multiple versions. You pay, then you can pick and choose your format.

I'm old fashioned.
I want a disc in my hand.
(I wrote that with a straight face.)

I'll most likely buy the disc too. Unless by some complete freak chance I win the "Guess the next title" game over on the CT forum. Then I'll just sit back and let the DVD come to me!

I’m sure that a lot of you have for years lamented not being able to acquire one movie in particular, that was riffed a long time ago, in an industrial park far, far away. I’m talking about, of course the Maltese Falcon of MST3K fandom, ‘The Green Slime‘. In the past, we were told, for the most part that one of the main reasons that it wasn’t ever released was that they (Joel, Trace, et al) were too embarrassed by it. That it was one of their earlier works, and wasn’t very good, in other words it wasn’t, I guess up to the very high standards that they have set for themselves. While this is very laudable, it is increasingly frustrating for us die-hard fans. Many of us would rather watch the worst performance of the CT or RT crew over the best that Hollywood can churn out. This got me to thinking, if the CT crew still feels this way, then perhaps a compromise can be reached. If they can’t (or won’t) make a copy of the original MST3K version, then why not give the fans the benefit of their vast and varied experience, and band together and take a second crack at it? If you’re like me, (and I know I am) many here would snatch a copy up faster than you can sampo. The biggest obstacle, as I see it, would of course be discovering who at this time still holds the rights. Does MGM still hold them, or perhaps, due to the passage of time, have they perchance, lapsed into to public domain?

The brains were working for KTMA when they made the episode. Do they have any legal rights?

Kinda quiet around here. Too quiet. I mean "Servo chirping like a cricket during a host segment" quiet. Bet that means we'll have lots of new stuff pretty soon. The anticipation is so palatable, I can cut it with a fork. Hopefully/probably won't be that much longer before we learn about, in no particular order: -new riffed films to download or hard copy purchase - brand spanking (spanking?) new CT merchandise available for purchase on the website (for a limited time only) -specifics on the highly anticipated Cinematic Titanic Live Show in October -other stuff I can't think of, in a speculative sort of way
Waiting patiently with an itchy trigger finger on the Press Enter to Order button.

Theres an empty spot for the next CT release in my cd case. They need to put out more than one every 3 months if they want to keep everyones attention.

I’m under the impression that they were working on more than one script, probably so they could film more of them at the same time to reduce costs. I forget where I read that now.

I’m under the impression that they were working on more than one script, probably so they could film more of them at the same time to reduce costs. I forget where I read that now. Mary Jo's blog about them looking for more long-term studio space made it sound like that's the case. I believe RiffTrax does the same thing, record a batch of episodes at one time. I would be shocked if this was the normal delay between CT episodes once the first season/series/batch of episodes starts up. Essentially they made a pilot, it was greenlighted (ie it sold well), and now they're going to series.

That's the impression I've gotten as well. Joel has constantly referred to Oozing Skull as a pilot, and not as a first episode. Considering the costs involved in flying everyone to LA or wherever they tape it, it makes a lot more sense to write a bunch, then tape them consecutively. They've never said outright that that's what they're doing, but there have been little indications in various interviews and stuff.

OK quick comparison. CT easy ( although long download ) easy burn to DVD and worked with all my ancient ( non DIvix ) DVD players. What this means is this was easier for me to play for others then the rifftrax shows. i put this in this thread because of the previous i want the DVD in my hand. well it does get there but you just have to make it. still easier then the riff trax sync ipod deal to me. but to each their own.
any way i just downloaded "oozing skull " last night and was blown away.
way to go kid :-) to quote the happy man.

The latest email from CT seems to suggest things will get underway again in May. At least they'll have a few episodes in the tank when they're done, though.
And maybe I need to go back and read it again, but will these only be available via download? I'm a pressed disc kind of guy. I really have no use for downloading this kind of thing.

Pressed fruitbowl, I mean, Pressed DVD for me, too.
I'm sure they'll be available on future CTs, but we'll have to wait while the DIY crowd laugh at us.
