It became quite obvious 5 minutes into it. It is the same thing that made us all love MST.
Seeing the gang there- their friendly interaction- brings us in. It has that cozy feel that MST has but FC and RT does not (although they are also funny).
I love all the little surprises as well! It is so great having Joel back.
"Maybe she'll find two more torches so she can juggle?" - that is SOOO Joel!
It's a winner!

The main reason I like CT better is simple: the silhouettes.

Over the weekend I watched The Oozing Skull three times, each time with a Rifftrax in between (Transformers & Revenge of the Sith), and I'm thankful I don't have to choose between them. I like CT's MST-style movies, and of course I love the CT crew, but no more than I love Mike, Bill, and Kevin. And when it comes to writing the funny, nobody outdoes Mike.

The main reason I like CT better is simple: the silhouettes. That is exactly what I meant above- only in my more verbose style... : )

This kind of thread just seems to be asking for an argument between fans of one or the other. I'm a fan of all these guys, as I've said before, but I'll always be an MST3K fan first and foremost.

Different Flavors.. Same pack of Fun Dip. The movies are the bland, flavorless, edible stick.

Different flavors is right!
When riffing older B-movies... a more subdued riff pacing works great. Joel and Co. have proven that this formula still works as well as it ever has.
On the reverse (with RiffTrax) ... modern movies have far more rapid pacing (even the lame ones). And the sharp, rapid fire riffs that Mike and Co. deliver work great with these kind of flicks.
Bottom line... I enjoy both. It's great having both camps doing their thing. We all win!

I laugh and enjoy both, but yeah, CT is everything I love about MST3K, there's something about the style, delivery, timing and vibe of it that appeals to me. Both are tapping into the same vein but for whatever reason, CT does give me the warm fuzzies and the bigger booming laughs, I mean hugh house shaking laughter that I used to get from watching MST3K - It feels like coming home.

CT does retain more of the MST "charm."

With the Film Crew and Rifftrax, I could sometimes have thought I was listening to MST3K.
With Cinematic Titanic, there were moments I felt like I was watching MST3K.
I don't know of its the silhouettes, the return of Joel and Trace to riffing, or a combination of factors, but CT is the closest thing I've seen so far.

And my opinion of Mary Jo has changed! I was never a Pearl fan (although she was 100x better than bobo) - but she was hysterical in The Oozing Brain! Glad she is part of the team!

I received mine yesterday (don't know why it took so long since I ordered it at midnight when it was released). I watched the first 5 minutes before having to head back out. I was just wowed! I kept screaming, "It's Joel! It's Joel!" I enjoy Rifftrax and The Film Crew, but this grabbed me instantly in a way the others have yet to do. It is great having all of these great choices, but right now Cinematic Titanic has outdone the others, and that is really saying something.

It should make it easier for you to find her jokes in MST, too. They've always had a different perspective. She's incredibly funny. I loved the "Are you ready boots?" and the rejoinder that followed. That was hilarious.

It should make it easier for you to find her jokes in MST, too. They've always had a different perspective. She's incredibly funny. I loved the "Are you ready boots?" and the rejoinder that followed. That was hilarious. As soon as the woman put the boots on, I was thinking "I wonder if those boots were made for walking?" as she was putting them on her bare feet and all. So I didn't find it funny until Josh was doing the Monkey. Curse of expectations. I expected the line but not the dance. So that's why I think CT is better than RF and FC: there's more than one source of humor available. Plus, they can be done at the same time. While Frank was talking about the plane shot as one long take like "Goodfellas", Trace was bringing the plane down for landing using what looked like ping pong paddles.
