Different Flavors.. Same pack of Fun Dip. The movies are the bland, flavorless, edible stick. Great, and I'm the dope who only eats the sticks! What does that mean?! Mmm. FunDip. Gosh darnit now I want a LikMStik! I like the sticks too. Mmm, oozing brain stick...

This stuff you youngsters call Fun Dip is what us old-timers remember as Lik-M-Aid. And I liked the stick too...

I had a long response written out, but the last thing I want to do at this point is make a big issue out of things. And besides, I guess most of the responders to this thread have been positive about both camps, rather than just CT, unlike the OP, who is (in any event) biased because of a working relationship with Trace. Not that that's a bad thing at all (and potentially pretty cool), but it's just a fact.
I'll say that I'm biased too - towards Rifftrax, at this point (and for many reasons, though I won't go into that long argument). But at least I don't go starting inflamatory-sounding threads about "why Rifftrax is better than CT."

I always preferred the earlier years to the later years of mst3k, the vibe and such, so for me CT is as good as it gets.

I actually liked the Film Crew releases a little better than CT's first outing. But I'm on board for CT as long as it keeps going.

And I need to start buying some Film Crew releases.
Anyone have an old mp3 player, loaded with rifftracks? I'd like to give 'em a try, but I'm IT illiterate...

Different Flavors.. Same pack of Fun Dip. The movies are the bland, flavorless, edible stick. Wow... that's deep. I laughed long and hard over that one. And now I want Fun Dip. My dentist will not be pleased. I tend to enjoy the later episodes of MST, possibly because those are the first ones I remember watching (Girl in Gold Boots and Final Sacrifice specifically), so while I've been excited about the idea and concept of CT (one question though: what was the premise again?), I wasn't exactly jumping at the gun to buy the DVD... hearing all of your feelings at how great it is has me thinking about it in a new light, so to speak.

Yes, that's it. CT has the cozy feel of MST, hearing the voices of Joel, Trace, Josh, Mary Jo, and Frank saying NEW stuff I've never heard before is fantastic.
BTW- KyrieEleison - You're at Liberty? I too live in the Hill City.

Ya know when I first saw the thread I considered locking it preemptively but people were posting in a logical, calm and friendly manner so I decided to hold off. I think that as long as it continues to go that way its fine. It’s just the internet and people are going to have opinions. I will say that a more appropriate thread title would have been “Reason why I think blahblah” so that it would have been made clear that it was just an opinion. That sort of thing helps to keep people from getting offended.

I've pretty much avoided this thread because I'm holding off on watching CT until this weekend. Even is CT turns out to be the best thing ever, Rifftrax has been solidly entertaining for over 50 releases. I think CT needs a track record before my opinion can be fully formed. And they will have to go a long way to top Rifftrax.
