Just got an e-mail from CinTi detailing praise in the press and also informing us of a Cinematic Titanic launch party in Minneapolis!
Heres the e-mail for those who still can't get on the mailing list:
Hi Everybody,
Well now that our first baby has left the nest (no small relief when your baby is named “The Oozing Skull”) and reached people’s dvd players, our attention last week turned to the internet.
The week got off to a bang when our newly designed website got deluged with visitors thanks to BoingBoing.net’s Cory Doctorow proclaiming:
“Cinematic Titanic is Joel Hodgson's latest project, and it kicks ass.”
Thanks Cory – both for the recommendation on one of the world’s most-read blogs and also for letting us know we’d need a bigger server if people like you send us a shout out (it’s up and running now).
Speaking of reviews on the internet, here’s a few more:
Over at Quick Stop Entertainment (Kevin Smith’s website) they recommend:
“The magic is back, my friend. Snap it up, post haste.”
The Bit Maelstrom writes:
“Can you go home again? Well, Cinematic Titanic is like going home and finding things better than you remember them.”
“In terms of riffs-per-minute? Sheer comic gold. About as good as anything MST3K ever did.”
dvdtalk.com says:
“There are plenty of reasons to get excited about "Cinematic Titanic," but tops of the pops has to be the return of Hodgson to the riffing arena. His spiky non sequiturs and head-spinning pop culture references are like gold to these ears, finally ending a 14-year absence from the genre with another creation that's pure ecstasy to behold. I hate to typecast the guy, but damn he's good at this stuff.”
The Popcorn n’ Roses podcast Subject:CINEMA says:
"The commentary is hysterical, absolutely funny from beginning to end. They really have a magic chemistry - again!"
We’re really heartened by the early response. You may be thinking “were there any criticisms?”. Sure there were a couple, but who puts criticism of their product in their own newsletter?
If you really want to see the thing dissected, check out our new forum on the website. Oh and while your at the site, why not pick up that copy of “The Oozing Skull” you’ve been meaning to get?
Looks good that we’ll also be popping up in the mainstream press soon. Stay alert.
