I know that CT is a new venture and there will be growing pains however, when you tout your new venture as "the reunion of the original MST3K crew" and you get all sorts of good publicity and news, you REALLY need to follow that up.
In December, we all found out about CT, the DVD could be ordered in late December, it was mailed out in early January....... then nothing.
The website has had some updates, but I would think that CT would be more aggressive about stating future plans, some sort of timetable for their next releases, a behind the scenes "how they make the riffs" story, anything.
I would hate to see this effort peter out due to CT not recognizing that they need to be more agressive about promoting themselves and giving information to the fans.
Maybe there are a lot of plans in the works, but the lack of information on this new venture is worrisome to me. They need to grow and make themselves attractive to people other than those on this and the Rifftrax board.

On the promotional front, I was listening to Fangoria Radio last Friday, and somebody was talking about EZTakes! But it was the female host of the show promoting her "selected scenes" outtake DVD. Since they have a relationship with EZTakes, a CT mention shouldn't be impossible...

They're in Rolling Stone, I think their promotion is going just fine.

They're in Rolling Stone, I think their promotion is going just fine. I hope so. I just dont want to see their site fail to over come inertia and just peter out. A release in December.......... now it is February...... still no word on when CT002 will ever be released. That is NOT good if you want to sustain a business and that has me a bit worried for the venture since I so like everyone involved it and wish them nothing but the best.

A release late in December that due to the holidays no one got until January and it's only now the very beginning of February. I think you're overanxious. They were probably waiting to judge public opinion for one thing on the first one. I think we'll see another release if not late this month early next month and I also think that now they're getting the kinks worked out, they'll become a more well-oiled machine. Keep the faith.

I don't think so. MST3K has enough of a following on the internet, both casual and "hardcore," for word to get spread around quickly, as it did. I think the majority of the people who would be interested in the project are probably already aware of it. I have several Google Alerts set up, and I've seen dozens upon dozens of blog posts from both big and small sources talking about CT. I think they need help, but not in the marketing department.

Yeah, MST3K rocks, MSTies are great, blah blah. I still agree with everything that pslowner said. They need a real professional full-time marketing/pr person. We should know by now in the very least what the target date for the next release is. More than that, I personally think we should know exactly what the next release is by now and target dates for the next couple after that.
I don't like to compare CT and RiffTrax in content, but I think comparing them for this is a good idea. RiffTrax has a well-designed easy-to-look-at website that is regularly updated with new info, and they give out their upcoming movie almost immediately after they release the last one.

It's true, the Rifftrax website has spoiled me. Their forums are easy to read and well laid out and the whole thing is very professional. I'm hoping CT will work towards something like this as they get their feet under them a bit...

I've never been much into RiffTrax, but I would guess that a month after their first release, things were a bit different. And most likely CT wasn't/isn't able to give out their next movie because they probably needed to see how well this one sold before they officially secured the rights to another movie. There's a lot more logistically and financially to worry about in putting a CT episode together vs. simply releasing a commentary track like RiffTrax does. And it would have been foolish of them to license another movie and start shooting a second episode before they found out if the concept would sell enough to make it worth while to continue. "The Oozing Skull" is probably better looked at as a pilot than as a first episode.
