Hey All,
Joel mentioned to me that things are humming along smoothly at C.T. The first DVD has been released and the press is starting to roll in - check out this weeks Rolling Stone for instance, it's all comin' together. The Cinematic Titanic Crew are starting to work on the next feature and prepping for their live show in Minneapolis. For the time being things are pretty calm and Joel mentioned it would be a great time do a Q and A with those of you who have a question for him. Post whatever question you'd like to ask Joel, and we're going to pick 20 of them and lock Joel in a room until he answers them all (well, not actually lock him in a room, but the doorknob is kinda bent and it's hard to open once you're in there, so...)
Moderators, could this be pinned for a week? I'd like to keep it open until next Friday, then compile 20 of the best questions.

Edit - I wanted to add – We’ve had some Q&A with other cast members before and they’re always a blast. I never thought we’d have the opportunity to pick Joel’s mind though. Thank you so much for making this happen RAD! You are the man. On to my question. Hi Joel! Why do you think all these old cheesy movies still draw such a large following?

thanks RAD for the notice.. okay, i will add mine again:
i would really like to know if anything special will be planned for the "20th anniversary" of mst3k (would that be considered this year or next year?). perhaps another official mst3k convention?
though i feel a bit bad; i really should be asking something about cinematic titanic! must get the brain cells working harder. i'm at work, so all is mush.

I'd like to ask Joel if he's open to the occasional "crossover" between CT and Rifftrax (including himself!).
And
Once things are running smoothly, do they have an idea on how often they'd like to release new movies?

Good god. How many questions can I fit in a single post?
1.) Seeing as you just launched Cinematic Titanic, an obvious cousin to MST3K, is there any reason you have not reformed MST3K itself – including cast and crew – in a direct-to-DVD format?
2.) What are your thoughts on Jim Mallon's project at mst3k.com?
3.) Why didn't you answer the question in reference to Rifftrax in the slashdot interview?
4.) What are your thoughts on the current writers strike?
5.) Can Joey the Lemur make an appearance on Cinematic Titanic? I like him. And there's no weird "bird/dog guy" to throw him off.
6.) Would you be open to guest-appearing in a Rifftrax project?
Someone else might be able to phrase one of these in a nicer style, but I had to get them off my chest.

If we all buy tons of CT releases will you eventually have enough money to buy back the rights to MST3K so it can be handled properly?

1). Could we have an actual premise to CT?
2). Would it be possible to have host segments where all five of you actually appear in the flesh as opposed to Shadowrama?
3). How many fish can you name?
Just kidding on that last one, unless Joel really can name a lot of fish!

Have Joel & the Gang been approached to do more "extras" for Shout!s new MST3K releases?

Is there going to be a revolving CT membership or is it pretty much going to be the Oozing Skull gang?
What type of genres do you want to put to the Cinematic Titanic treatment?

Hi, and thank you Joel for the recent deeper insights into your "stepping down" from MST in `93. My next sighting of you back then was your consulting producer credit for the wonderful yet briefly aired "Paula Poundstone Show" later in `93 . Paula's manager and producer of that show, Bonnie Burns, commented within 12 hours when I recently uploaded the 2 episodes to my YouTube Channel and within a week we'd conducted an email-interview ! Altho' she said things like " I told Paula I thought we should bring someone in who she’d respect creatively. Joel was the first and only person I thought of." . . .and . . . . "I remember him in meetings, and he and I screwing around." , there really weren't enough vivid anecdotes or quotes to post the piece w/out teasing the packs of MSTies on our board. There simply wasn't sufficient Joel ! Can you fill in a bit of what was going on there & what you did during the filming of the 4 episodes ? ( of which 2 aired ). And would you mind if I then posted this *Newly Fortified Interview -- Now With 20% More Joel !!* ? thanks for everything, including "TV Wheel" ! Dave

okay, i've got a follow-up:
what prompted you to return to riffing, as opposed to continuing as just a writer for various other programs? even after you left mst3k, did you always assume you would go back to riffing in some way with your former colleagues?

I have three categories of questions so far: 1.) real; 2.) silly; and 3.) reference. Probably only the first category is what RAD and Joel are looking for. Here it is. - Will CT branch out into riffing other film genres--films without oozing or bleeding? [Edit: pretty much the same as braindeadzombie's second question.]
- What, if any, types of movies are you definitely not interested in doing (at least right now)?
- Will you also be riffing educational shorts in future CT endeavors?
- What question do you hope never to be asked again?
- Where would you like to be in five years? (That sounds silly, but it's a legit question.)
Please, RAD, reiterate to Joel that he need not fear that his answers about future projects will be taken as binding in any way. At least not by me. *glares around warningly*

Joel-
Do you (or a fellow CT writer) really listen to Howard 100?
If so, the next movie that CT riffs on, AND features a little person, please throw out an "Eric The Midget" reference...

Now that we know with 100% certainty that you didn't want to leave MST3K, can we ever expect to see you patch things up with Jim and start a revival of Mystery Science Theater 3000 in its original form in our lifetimes?
