Beautiful Mind, you really nailed it. Those are really great issues to get a handle on. I know I'm not the person to answer them or resolve them though. I'd have to say that the casual person just hearing about CT is not going to be interested in the forums, at least not at first. In my case, I finally did get all properly registered and all but I haven't been back to the forums since, one because it's so scatterbrained in the way its arranged and two because the people who first squatted on there I don't know so I feel like an interloper. Thirdly, I already am well established here and everything of note that happens there eventually gets reported here. I also like your redesign idea. You should be brainstorming it with the Titans.
RAD, don't take it personally, it's not your fault!

A few days ago, I, too, entered the information requested on the CT Forum registration page, and guess what happened?
Nothing. So, I, too, am in that select group that has tried to join the CT forums to post, but to no avail.
I was going to post on the CT Forums about my inability to register and log on to post, when I realized...
...well, you get the idea. ;D

RAD, don't take it personally, it's not your fault! Thanks for backing me up on this one and for giving me your perspectives. I certainly hope RAD or any other Titan affiliate reading my posts won't take my comments as snarky. I am sharing my experience as a customer and user of the site and I really do wonder if others are noticing the same things. If I'm the only one noticing this stuff then it's not worth the bother to address it. But if site design concerns are affecting general user experiences then maybe it's worth looking into sooner rather than later.

Hey Beautiful,
I'm not really a Titan affiliate, I just play one on TV. And your comments are completely valid. If even one person is experiencing an issue, it needs to be addressed.

RAD Thanks RAD But I know you can hardly go around addressing the concerns of every crackpot fan that pops up out of the woodwork. Not that I'm a crackpot of course, I'm a special princess who is always right so any suggestion I make should be implemented immediately! ;D When I say "If it's only me don't bother" what I really mean is it'd take a lot to lose me as a customer. Even if the forums never work and the site never looks (to me) like it sells comedy DVDs I'll still keep coming back for more as long as they make 'em cause the product is great!

I apologize for the issues y'all have been running into, life has been beyond crazy lately.
The Login link now appears right next to the Register link. The folks who write the forum software have a ton of posts on their own forums about how they just don't work with the version of WP that we're running, but I've managed to code some stuff on my own to handle it.
As for not getting the registration emails -- I'm fighting with our hosting company as we speak about this. It should be the simplest thing in the world, but they've got all kinds of rules and regulations and nightmarish bureaucratic nonsense to get around before we can use our mail host that we use for the email club.
For anyone who doesn't know, it's actually pretty difficult to get an email to someone on Yahoo or AOL or some of the other big mail providers. I know that seems ridiculous with the amount of spam that you get, but that's coming from professional spammers. We're professional NOT-spammers, and so it takes a bit of time to get the reputation up for a mail host before we can get through the gates at some of these companies. It's truly not fun. So now that we've gotten the reputation building for our main mail box, I'm fighting to be able to actually use it from our web server.
Don't give up yet, we're busting our butts on this....
EDIT: btw holoclown, your avatar is from my favorite host segment ever. When Joel yells "...and I'm tastin' metal" it just kills me.

Hey, thanks for letting us know all that! That was really kind of you to take some time out of your schedule to address our concerns here. I hope you get all the kinks worked out soon for everyone's sake. I appreciate all the work that's gone into the site as I'm sure a majority of the others here do, too.

Yes, thanks so much for the update! I remember when I registered for another site I had to put the site's email addy on my "safe list". I can't remember the procedure but if some folks did that would it raise your rep?

I work in a computer center, and while I don't work on our mail server I know what a pain it can be to setup and maintain a mail server. In the case of my first registration, the email would have been going directly to a machine I run, and that isn't using any of the fancy spam-thwarting techniques. The only thing I do is block IP ranges after I (personally) have received a lot of spam from that range. The second registration message was tied to a different email address of mine, which goes to a mail server that does use some of the spam-fighting techniques. It wasn't gmail, yahoo, or aol. In any case, what hostname or IP address would the emails be coming from? Perhaps it would help if I white-listed the mail server which you are using.

It means a lot to see that you were following thru and coming here to check. Must've been a bit horrifying to see how many folks were lined up in this thread and having the same problems !

99 Apple Schnapps, No, by all means, complain! Let me know what you're experiencing so I can try to get it resolved. I take NONE of this personally, and would much rather be aware of what issues are being encountered so they can be worked out. As you've seen, the Webmaster (who is a wonderful fellow, and quickly responds to anything that I send him. Plus, he took the time to post on this thread to reassure everyone that he's on the case) is working to resolve the problems being encountered. I've just got an email notifying me that we will be needing blood samples from all forum members to extract DNA samples to match against the DNA information we already have on file in order for you to get registered. Is that going to be problemo for anyone? Seriously, thanks to all for your patience whilst we get everything figured out. RAD

I'm having the same problem as most people ITT- the confirmation email never comes and I've used both an @gmail.com and a .edu address. Had no idea about the rules with yahoo and the other big email providers, that's the lamest of lames. I hope this will be as painless as possible for you. The webmaster has been in a frenzy of debugging today and I'm getting nothing but positive replies from folk whom could not register beforehand. So if you haven't tried today, please do, won't us? And let me know if you have a scintilla of a problem. RAD

I tested it against a gmail address this afternoon, and got the email almost instantaneously. If you haven't retried it yet today, I would highly recommend doing so. There is a 2-day wait for your registration to time out before you can re-register with the same name again, but if you're up against that, let me know what the username is and I will try to clear it manually.
