Hey, all There has been some discussion regarding shipping dates, posting dates, etc. for Cinematic Titanic that have slipped past the original projection. But, in the greater scheme of things, it seems that this applies to so many of the things we eagerly await. Be it a movie release, a book we read a review about and can't wait to get our hands on, video games (and I'm looking at you here, Darkstar). So, whilst we wait for the next installment of Cinematic Titanic (and it IS coming, folks) and Joel's answers to the questions you've tossed at him like a handful of BB's (and they ARE coming, folks), let me ask you guys; What have you (and hey, let's give CT a break on this particular thread, okay? ) really been revvved up for that ended up being delayed? I'll start. J. D. Salinger, after his long silence, supposedly worked out a deal with a small book distributorship to actually offer his first publication in over 40 years (Hapworth 102, I believe it was called). The Buzz was phenomenal. I couldn't wait to lay my hands on that one. Had a release date and everything. Never happened. So, you? RAD

Clan of the Cave Bear sequel. There were 10 years between books 4 and 5 of the 6 book series.

A certain video game, know for felonious mayhem and wanton destruction. Five months late and counting...

The whole 50's and 60's vision of the future has a hell of a lot to answer for! Where is my hover car?? My jet pack?? Nobody's living on the moon yet and it's well past 1980! Where are my robot maid and my Judy Jetson style push button kitchen of tomorrow!! Oh now I'm steamin' mad!

What have you (and hey, let's give CT a break on this particular thread, okay? ) really been revvved up for that ended up being delayed? Two things come to mind right off the bat. 1) My car, in for repairs at the service station. I was told it would be ready this past Friday, but, at the last minute, the garage found a new problem and it was delayed until the following Monday. 2) My latest issue of PROCRASTINATOR MONTHLY. I've been having a real problem getting it on time...

I would say I get my expectations dashed ANY time I actually think I'll be packing up and moving away from here. This has been consistent for over two years now...
Also, yeah, where's my hoverboard?

Bravo on Number 2, holoclown! I'd love to get my hands on a Wii actually. Dunno why, I rarely play video games anymore. But you never see them and it's been over a year now(?) and they're still this rare? That's ridiculous. I'm pretty patient for the most part, though, and a realist, so I never try to get too high on anything before it happens as I'm usually crushed when it doesn't work out. And of course my own personal radar cylinder for the top of my car. Plus, Harper Lee's follow up to "To Kill a Mockingbird". I'd say those two are pretty equal. Edit: Totally with you on the moving thing Harpo! I swear to God this is the last winter I'm living in Iowa. Of course, I say that every year and every year I mean it, but this is it!

Pretty much every movie and game ever as we always get them later over here. Sometimes not at all! Bless those importers!

Would the Giant Gila Monster single-disc release qualify for this thread? Not that I had great expectations of timeliness from Rhino, but still--!

One of my fondest memories growing up is when my grandparents took my brother and I to see Star Wars. I was 8 years old and I still remember almost everything from that great day.
Anyway, I tried to re-create that for my nieces when the first (new) Star Wars came out. I was so excited I even chose the most popular show time so the line would be long. By the end I wanted to claw my eyes out. I was talking about this last Christmas and my oldest niece didn't even remember that she has seen it.

Lucky her. I tried to set about ma brain with a coat hanger after seeing it as it seemed the only logical way to erase it!

Wait a minute... did anyone see Callipygias' niece holding a coat hanger and wearing a curiously blank expression?

But, in the greater scheme of things, it seems that this applies to so many of the things we eagerly await. Two wrongs don't make a right. ...but, three rights make a left.......and, two Wrights make an airplane.
