I'm really surprised no one has posted this yet. At the bottom of the recent e-mail containing the trailer for Doomsday Machine, there is an announcement that CT will be performing Wasp Woman Live at the Ford Ampitheatre as part of the LA Film festival on Saturday, June 21. Google the festival for ticket info.

See: "CT mentioned on Radio (LIVE SHOW)" thread. Maybe I should re-title that thread.

I just bought 2 tickets on-line. Now I need to figure who will use the second ticket, and how I'm going to get there. Getting there shouldn't be too bad, but at some point the buses stop running.

My husband and son are going to this show, and I am so jealous! They aren't even huge fans like me, but watch with me once in a while. Unfortunately I'm clear across the country for the summer. Well, I told them to take pictures if it's possible, and buy me something if there's anything for sale.

Hey Bix! I just saw that you are in Torrance. That's where I live 1/2 of the year. It's a small world I guess.

I'll be going to this. Anyone know if they'll be doing a panel or something before or after the show or is it strictly a show?

My husband and son reported that the show was a blast! They showed Doomsday Machine, and my husband said the timing was perfect. He thought they made many more comments than during the shows, but I can't vouch for that. He hasn't seen a lot of them, unlike his fanatical wife. I haven't seen this movie yet, but apparently it was partially made and someone thought they could finish it years later without the original actors. So they stuck space suits on them and went ahead on. Last night they did a bit where the warm-up comedian (sorry, my dh didn't remember who it was) put on a spacesuit and tried to be one of the guys. All his comments were lame, of course. It sounded like such a great show. The DVD should be worth getting. Has anyone else gone to it?

Sorry for the fractured post. I'm typing really fast cause I'm on dialup and a thunderstorm is coming in fast.

The show was awesome! As pinkfully stated, the movie was Doomsday Machine. It was originally supposed to be The Wasp Woman, but Josh came out beforehand to say the movie was changed because The Wasp Woman "wasn't s***ty enough." So, anyone expecting a DVD of The Wasp Woman in the future should probably just abandon all hope of that happening. Doomsday Machine was perfect, though...a shining example of incompetent filmmaking, and the riffs were fantastic. I was happy to hear Mary Jo have much more riffs this time around (compared to The Oozing Skull), many of them pretty risque but still hysterical. All-in-all, everybody did a great job, and all of you who ordered the DVD will be glad you did. The only bummer of the night, though, was the two minutes during the show when Universal Studios/City Walk was blowing up fireworks (The show took place outdoors, remember). Still, it just makes me look forward to hearing the riffs I missed when I get the DVD. While I'm on the subject of the show, though, did anybody else happen to try and pick up their tickets at the Film Festival will call in Westwood only to be told the tickets were at the theater? This wouldn't have bothered me so much, but my friend and I lost out on 10 bucks for flat rate parking.

Well after taking Public Transit (3 busses) I arrived at the Ford Ampitheater a few hours before 8:30PM and tried to find a cool spot to try to reduce my personal heat index. Of course the beautiful shady spot I found had not a whisper of breeze (I believe I heard The Valley was in the low 100s Saturday) but I was smart enough to bring a spare shirt. Turned out I did resemble Crenshaw, all sweaty and giving away chaw to pretty girls...
I sat down near the stage, 5th row left. So Mary Jo was closest, with Joel & Josh kinda behind her, Trace & Frank held stage right. A good sound system let me here the movie & the riffing, which was very good. But what a movie! Funny that I posted (incorrectly) that I was going to see Doomsday Machine, then I corrected my mistake, then it turned out I was right all along. It was so great seeing them all come out, one by one. Josh came out first playing a bass guitar, while the "warm-up guy" Tod Carlin (?) did a few musical bits with Josh to kill the 10 minutes remaining 'til show start. Everyone did well reading their lines (I think Trace flubbed one), and before I new it we got to the part of DM that Joel warned us about (the last few minutes) and it was over.
I just wished they'd have played the CT theme SOMETIME, like before or after, because Josh's creation ROCKS, and would've sounder great echoing around the Hollywood Hills.
The fireworks from nearby were a mild interruption, no biggie. About 9:30 PM I finally started to feel normal again. So up to the snack bar for my second $8.00 Amstel Light in a cup. AHHHHhhhhhhh.
Ran into Hoss Ragen on the way out, good thing as he was my ride home...Thanks Ryan! But before we got out to the parking lot we see Joel talking to some fans and taking pics with the fans. He had a little crowd going, so I walked right past him and went right up to the guy with Mary Jo. "Hi! Are you RAD?" "Yes" "Hi, John from the Discussion Board" "Hi! I'm so glad you could make it."
I don't remember the conversation exactly, but I talked a bit to MJ, said I was on her Christmas Card list. Forgot to tell her about my Amy Winehouse Theory (that AW stole Mrs. Forrester's eyeshadow "flick") which is probably a good thing. When I did walk right up to RAD, I did it sorta on purpose, like he was the "Star", because on this Board, he truly is The Man. But while I was saying "Hi, Are you RAD?", I was looking right at Mary Jo. So it may have seemed weird...
Joel was still taking pictures, so we decided to head out. I soon regretted that, as I could've chatted him up about something (check my signature) we have in common. I think I did hear another Sirius Satellite Radio / Howard Stern riff during the show.
And to thank him for creating my favorite show. That would've been a good thing to say. Stupid Crenshaw! You're Stupid...Stupid!

Joel was the one that flubbed, and he flubbed magnificently. It was all great. I loved the show. I hated the fact that it was outside though (with the temperature as it was and all) This was my first live show seeing these guys together... and I didn't really GET the warm-up guy all that much... He was 'ok' funny, but I dunno why they needed him.

I got there around 8 and sat on the right hand side around the middle. It was coincidental that the warm up comedian was a George Carlin parody/impersonator. Josh played bass for the guy's beatnik-esque routine. Afterward he (Josh) complimented MST3K fans for their unusual attention spans to much applause. He then broke out in an "ADD medley", which was a tongue-in-cheek insult to one of the rivals of the radio station sponsoring the event. He sure seems to like the song "Black Dog" (he sang it in a couple of episodes as well, as I recall). Anyhow, as was stated above, Doomsday Machine was shown instead. Fantastic riffing. The observational gags were plentiful with few topic-of-the-week pop culture references, which was good. Without giving away too much, the jokes regarding the NASA stock footage that we've all seen a billion times before, the army base security, the old man, the "escape chamber" scene and, of course, the tacky cut-and-paste scene editting were the highlights. Like the Sci-Fi Era of the show, there were a handful of L.A.-centric references. The couple of MST3K riffs ("a robot with a gumball machine head?" and "...watching Manos: The Hands Of Fate") got loud pops from the audience. I liked how they kept on track like professionals despite some goofs like Joel botching a riff, Josh almost faceplanting over some stairs upon re-entering the stage and the fireworks, which I thought was someone pulling a prank behind the screen. Frank and Mary Jo, who I encountered with RAD while both arriving and leaving, had the best riffs, in my opinion. After the show, Joel, talking to a kid no older than 10 years old hyped to meet him, was standing right next to me while Bix was talking to MJ, but I couldn't think of anything to ask him or say other than a simple compliment about the show. But it was very nice of them to not be shy about hanging out with the fans and taking pictures. I hope they do future screenings like this once more CT episodes are released.

Yeah, in a nice air-conditioned theater. I here those are somewhat common...
But who knew SoCal would have a heat-wave in June. It's called June Gloom for a reason (low clouds, less sunlight = cooler weather). While I sat waiting for a bus at Hollywood & Vine, I had a nice view of the Capitol Records Building and the Scientology Institute was just down the way. The first "star" I stepped on getting of the bus? Charles Boyer...
