Ok I know it's very possible that your favorite form is not represented...and that you might like a combination not listed(such as Progressive Metal) but come on people I only had eight choices I could list...so from the choices listed what's your favorite?
If you want to give a shout out to what might not be listed or whatever feel free to do so...
I picked Alternative with Metal being a close second
EDIT:OOps sorry y'all I thought I was in Mr. B's forum I don't know how to or if I can move this thread so help me out please and either do it or tell me how to.

I like a a bunch of different stuff, but I just chose alternative. I guess that represents my taste the best!

Progressive rock, no question. You could probably count my non-prog-related posts here on one hand.

I picked alternative too, although as I think I've mentioned before the word doesn't really mean what it used to mean. But I guess "alternative" can still encompass most of the stuff I like: Post-punk, goth, deathrock, indie, new wave, glam, etc.

Alternative, especially British alternative. (Joy Division, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Las, The Verve, Oasis, Blur, Radiohead, etc.)

It depends what my mood is, but I like jazz the most. But even then, I can't stand some forms of it (by-the-numbers "smooth" soul-jazz or frantic and abstract, "out" stuff). I'm really into Afro-Cuban jazz. If stiff, middle aged white people from the 50s who thought that Elvis and Bill Haley were Satan incarnate could dig it, you know it's good! The 60s and early 70s have "that sound" I like in any genre.

Jazz, classical, rock, and even opera.
I worked in a record store in the 70s and acquired a wide taste in music. Having a musical comedy theatre background, it was only natural for me to fall into opera. One usually falls into opera. But experiencing opera live is something everyone should experience at least once in their lives. And hopefully, it's a good opera. Porgy and Bess counts bonus points.

Seems like this should be in the music board to me.

thanks for moving it...sorry 'bout that
and like I said I had to be vague so as to encompass as much music as possible...I picked alternative but hate stuff like Hawthorne Heights, Nickelback etc. which I think fits under the "Alternative" umbrella nowadays but that's the draw back...

I like a lot of different music, but which slot does Ween belong in? Or Ryan Adams & the Cardinals? Wilco? Drive-by Truckers? I like CSN (and sometimes Y), Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, Big Country, the Who, Beatles, Led Zep, Radiohead, Sarah McLachlan, Muse, the Band, Lucinda Williams, Motorhead....there are too many styles of music for me to list just one as my favorite.
I can say that I do not like opera, or gangsta rap. I've heard other forms of rap, and hiphop, that I like.

I always thought Ween was progressive.
I like the Beatles.
From there the waters branch off and flows (XTC). From psychadelic rock (ala the 13th Floor Elevators) and punk (Ramones). I like lyrics (Aimee Mann, Dylan, Lennon).
And all of that finds it's way into the music I write. Beatlesesque style hooky rock with an acoustic rythym section and a lot of distortion/fuzz guitar layered over that.
I'm pretty basic. I don't pretend to be someone who appreciates all styles (Can't do Jazz or Opera or Rap). I'm pretty much a rock, folk rock kind of guy. That's it.

I literally listen to every type of music out there, my position has always been that music is only really split into two types, what I like and what I don't like. Perfect example is in the last few albums I bought, The Hold Steady (melodic pub rock), Leila (Smooth electronic production), The Bug (visceral British take on Jamaican Ragga and Dancehall) and Grouper (ethereal folk a bit like Cocteau Twins quieter moments).
As much as I love many styles my main fascination is with electronic music though, which sadly isn't an option so I'm not going to vote as I'd be untruthful if I did.

I would say Ween is alternative...but hey whatever
...and I would put electronica under the umbrella of alternative
I don't know maybe I shoulda said favorite form of rock because Country, Jazz, Classical, and even Hip Hop don't seem to be this boards taste but I didn't want to exclude those types of music...
