Does anyone else love rock/pop songs from the 50s and 60s?
I grew up listening to the Oldies station on my father's car radio. These were brilliant little songs really--about 2 to 3 minutes long and the sound was usually pretty fantastic. And even if you hated the song you knew there'd be a better one coming along in a couple minutes. lol

The British invasion bands are actually my faves. Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Who, etc. Amazing! (But I also love some of the other bands/singers like Herman's Hermits, Petula Clark, etc.)

Love quite a lot of the 50's rock 'n' roll stuff. Bought a great wee collection for £3 a couple of years ago. 3CDs of obvious stuff like Rock Around The Clock and Blue Moon and some lesser known stuff too, I think mainly because it's a cheapy so they had to fill it with anything, but that stuff's great too! Also got a great Sun Records collection, only missing Elvis because of rights issues, but we all know that stuff anyway. some really incredible little pop songs on that.

I lived through it all, even Your Hit Parade, and still love it all.
I'm especially fond of the Phil Spector box set, "Back to Mono".

Yeah! My Office obsessed friend made sure that I knew that. He's also my favorite character. Well, him and Kevin. ;D

When I was thirteen, while everybody else was listening to Boyz II Men and Color Me Bad, I was listening to the local oldies station. It was my own private protest against pop culture in my anti-social phase. (This was before I discovered the likes of Megadeth, Alice in Chains, and Guns n' Roses)
I love the stuff. I definitely lean more towards the sixties music than the fifties. But there's some fantastic stuff from that era.

I unfortunately can't say that I have lived through the golden era of this, but I love a good 50s doo-wop ballad. In Southern California, "oldies" are the Art Laboe-approved, "got my heart broken" ballads that were popular in the inner city - namely East Los Angeles - community and were sold on the many "Oldies But Goodies" compilations. Don Julian & The Larks, Barbara Mason, Thee Midnighters, The Flamingoes (their famous arrangement of "I Only Have Eyes For You" always give me goosebumps), The Whispers, The Chantells, The Fuzz...this all is really good stuff .
