I got to say this boards collective musical tastes are quite good(everyone pat yourself on the back or pick your nose or whatever makes you happy)...so I was thinking it would be fun and interesting to start a thread where every one posted three or so songs a post of what they are digging right now...old or new. The only stipulation I would make is although I love The Beatles or Dylan or Radiohead or Pink Floyd...the list goes on and on...although I listen to those bands frequently I would say for the purposes of this thread which I see as exposing people to stuff they may not have heard...post songs that you think are obscure...but hey if every once in a while you want to post Hey Jude or whatever that's cool but I just think it would be ultimately more interesting to put obscure artists here. So here are my first three for your consideration... Superdrag-The Staggering Genius in my humble opinion this is the best obscure band out there hands down. They have better songs but this is the best one I could find with excellent sound quality. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnXQa-NJ3qs&feature=relatedSebadoh-Willing To Wait If you are familiar with Dinosaur Jr, Lou Barlow(Dinosaur Jr.'s original bassist) went on to form this band. This is one of their best songs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVclmKpsAYoMr. Bungle-Carry Stress In The Jaw And If you've heard of Faith No More this is Singer Mike Patton's side project which he was in before recruited for FNM...I wanted to include the superior Merry Go Bye Bye but figured sound quality is of the utmost importance in this case...but if you're feeling adventurous and like what you hear...search it out from the link...there are a couple of live versions on you tube the House Of Blues one is the best. That being said this a great song too and a pretty good representation of Mr. Bungle's psychotic abrupt genre switching style. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sOtoq6h5cQ&feature=related...anyway that's the first three contributions I have to allow...how 'bout yours(don't feel you have to do just three more or less is all good but if you put ten up at a time I would think most people would lose interest after the first couple)

Alan Parsons Project - Games People Play A great song that sounds even better if you crank it in Hi-Fidelity. Its very catchy and sounds almost like a sinister disco song. The guitar solo is amazing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_BXVhJxlJI(its an anime music video and the sound isn't quite that great, but it was the only one I could find)

Oh boy, making mix CDs is one of my very favorite things to do. I can think of several discs worth of stuff, but for now I will be good and limit myself to just three.
"The Color of Wurmwood" by Submarine Fleet I got this CD not too long ago, and I just can't get enough of it. Never has a band been more aptly named; they sound exactly like depth charges at the bottom of a lonely ocean. The whole record's great, but this song is the most like a "single."
"Red Planet" by Zombina and the Skeletones Pure, unadulterated, surfy, psychobilly fun.
"Lonesome Organist Rapes Page Turner" by the Dresden Dolls This is an older "B-side" (remember those?) that was re-released on the Dolls' latest. The frenetic piano threatens to tumble right out of your speakers, and the lovely Amanda Palmer is nearly breathless as she relates the sordid (but funny) tale of shame at the hands of a lecherous musician.

The only song I ever liked by Wax - it's short and it's a cool vid by Spike Jonze
And one of the greatest songs ever (F-Bomb warning) - White Punks on Dope by the Tubes
And the great Dickies, covering "Nights in White Satin"
Oh and Superdrag came out of Knoxville (I believe, or was that The Shazam, I sometimes get them scrambled) and everytime they'd come to nashville I'd have to work, or once I wound up in the hospital... I never did get to see them the whole time I lived there. A shame, great band.

Yeah Superdrag is from Knoxville and like you I still haven't seen them for one reason or another. So glad they reformed...can't wait to hear their new material. And I love that Wax video I remember it blowing my mind when I first saw it. Also loved that Bobby Hutcherson track...thanks Hoss.
here's another one for ya
Fossil-Moon...they released one album in the mid 90s don't know what happen to them afterwards...too bad a great undiscovered alternative band when this music ruled the airwaves

Speaking of Nashville...
The Shazam
Atticus Fault - The hottest thing when I lived there. Great, great live act. Were suppose to be our big gift to the country. One album, big flop, broke up right after. But holy... they are back.

Doves-The Man Who Told Everything.,..this is a slightly edited version of this song but they just shaved off a long outro

That's weird, yet I went to the site and it's still up www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTRBHLIOAygI guess they are making a new vid for this song. Edit: Enjoyed the song from Dove as well. I seem to remember reading good stuff about them but I don't remember if I've heard anything from them, now I have.

Fault was one of those bands where I liked them better live, the studio release was good, but live was better.

...and now here's a couple from my metal side and whenever I think about metal it's hard for me to know in a lot of cases if these bands are obscure or not because within the world of metal the bands I'm about to post have rabid followings but unless you seek out metal you never hear it on the radio usually so with that said here are a couple from Dream Theater ...in a nutshell Dream Theater is Yes meets Metallica here's a ballady one-The Spirit Carries On www.youtube.com/watch?v=W70LZxzp2jsand a hard one-As I Am www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tqSsgUfegoBetween The Buried And Me-Selkies:The Endless Obssession...BTAM is like Dream Theater meets The Mars Volta+death metal+the kitchen sink www.youtube.com/watch?v=19UZd_DKs2Q&feature=related...and although I'm pretty sure most people have heard them or at least heard of them...just in case...Lamb Of God-Laid To Rest...LOG are like Pantera meets Slayer...metal to the bone www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOWB6rmSd4I
