Definitely one of their top 5 so far. I think every one that they've done so far has been in their top 5... and in their bottom 5. Every single one. ;D I thought the "We have a runner in CT7" comment by the taskmaster was referring to its episode number before this show was released as CT5. Did I completely misunderstand it?

I took CT7 to be a location name. Like whatever level they're on or something.

The guy who's playing the "runner in CT7" sounds really like Dave "Gruber" Allen but according the credits it's not him.

Nice write up. And I agree with you about Josh. I always found his humor, as you say edgy, but he's so quick witted and he brings a fresh perspective, his jokes surprise and delight me.
I've read some about the CT writing process but I don't know if they always quip what they wrote (or if they pile them up and distribute them out equally as they did in MST) but each member brings something unique to the table, I guess that's what I really enjoy. Not only the riffs themselves but the personalities that shine through with those riffs

I'm 20 minutes in, and "Don't taze me bro!" is already one of my all-time favorite riffs.
They do seem to be deliberately going for current riffs (Andy Dick, Perez Hilton, Aldus Dumbledore, "Lost", and "American Idol") to update it from the original. Not necessarily good or bad, just an observation.
As much as I love the original riffing (it was my first exposure to MST, in fact), I have no problems with this one so far.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Solid riffing. The one little "host segment" was funny. Definitely in the their top 5!

Kay, I finally ordered it. Didn't get an opportunity to do to both financial woes and the fact that it's a movie they've already done before didn't get me excited. But Christmas is coming, so I better get it anyway.
Knowing my slow ass mail service, It will arrive either on the 15th or the 16th. I'll be waiting.

Just got done watching it a second time. Definitely my favorite CT release so far by a mile. It totally renewed my hope for future releases. I was never a huge fan of the original so I would definitely vote for this as the funnier of the two.

Not only the riffs themselves but the personalities that shine through with those riffs With CT it seems easier to work out who may have written a riff in the terms of what it references or its style, maybe because of what you said. With them not really playing characters or hiding behind puppets or the fact that they all riff on screen you get a sense of who they are a bit better. As you said they all bring a different view of things and I like all of their perspectives. I'd say that I'm maybe most in tune with Josh's worldview, unless everything he says was written by someone else!

Watched it again. I love the scenes when they send Torg into the shop.
“Santa’s treating him like a toy!”---“let.” – Martians/Frank
BATMAN!
That was so Elfless of him - MJ
Stick them in the garden (about frozen elves)
I finally did notice a riff I missed from the MST version, Joel’s BF Skinner line (putting kids in a box) in the original was a classic.
And I’ve seen this movie too much, now I’m its questioning the logic (the Martian’s are so concerned about the kids talking but they didn’t mind leaving Mrs. Claus and the elves behind?) LOL.

With CT it seems easier to work out who may have written a riff From what I've read and seen and know, I was under the impression that pretty much every line is written by who spoke it, except for maybe the occasional interplay response or sketch. It kind of goes along with the whole vibe that this is more of a performance by 5 comedy writes and not really characters on a show.

It kind of goes along with the whole vibe that this is more of a performance by 5 comedy writes and not really characters on a show. To me that's a HUGE point in their favor vs. MST3K. MST3K really only worked when you ignored the fact that the three riffers were just performing a script written by a large team of writers, and that most of their "personas" were artificial. If what you say is true, then CT doesn't have that issue to deal with. And I do think you're correct. Even through 5 episodes (counting the live vampire movie, I haven't seen SCCTM yet), each of them seem to have a fairly distinct riffing "personality" that MST3K never had post KTMA. Crow and Tom had distinct voices and ways of delivering riffs, but the actual riffs they delivered didn't seem to be distinct to their personality. Not the way Mary Jo's and Frank's and Josh's riffs are in CT.
