*** Cross posting from the CT forum ***
A small group of us from the river city made our way to the somewhat bright lights of St. Charles over the weekend to see the Cinematic Titanic game do their worst (again) to Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. It was all new material (even if some did dip in the same well) and the riffs were generally pretty funny.
"It's like Momma Cass, Judy Garland, and the Great Gazoo killing themselves all at once."
Whoever wrote that is a genius!
Dave "Gruber" Allen was the warm up act (only 10 more minutes) in character as Todd Carlin.. confused? GOOD!
His act was great, and he was nice enough to come down and shake hands with us while he was going sound checks before the show. Gruber, if you ever read this, I don't think I properly stated the impact that THB&G made on my young comedy mind.. thanks for all the great laughs, and tell Captain Lucky he still owes me $5.
Frank came out and regaled us the story of Convoluted Man, IN SONG!
"Please don't shout out jokes from the old show, you're only going to **** us up."
Thank you St. Louis, enjoy the buffet!
I first saw this kit (and it's owner) at GatewayCon in 2000. It's nice to see one painted so nicely. Mine still sits in the closet.. I got it from Chris Murphy, who got it from Kevin after he cleaned out his garage (or so the story goes).
Me, Edhardt from Sat News, and Toolmaster Jeff from the Bot Builders Yahoo group.
Gruber was nice enough to pose for my favorite picture, enraged fan and frightened celebrity... with one condition...
I had to pose for his favorite.. Elvis and Nixon.
The line is high, but I'm holding on... Also the chika right off camera (on the right) was a superfan we met that night... she got her Gizmonic hard hat signed.
- Mary Jo said that RAD was still on lockdown (j/k)
- Frank said that more Cartoon Dump is on the way, and was glad the fans liked his short about corporate greed during the writers strike
- Josh said that Allison is almost done with school, that the band is doing great, and that a new album may be coming at some point
- Trace instructed me on the better points of autograph signing pens, and why super slick surfaced objects (like the one 20th Anniversary DVD set) require pain pens.
- Joel gave me more information about some of my deeper bot building questions and reassured me that KTMA Servo's "skirt" was indeed a traffic cone cut to size.
Why who's this just hanging around? It's none other than Jason Skylar (half the team from Cheap Seats). PROTIP TO FANS: Do not mention "Wild Hogs" (even if you liked it)
All in all, a great time was had by all... Thanks CT, for making us laugh, at Droppo, again.
