I guess I almost waited too long, but I did get my tickets to the Saturday show in Cleveland. I'm on the main floor, but in the last row. At least I'm in the theater.

Tonight's mega-excellent show can be summed up in four words:
Best spit take EVER
;D ;D ;D
(Unfortunately, it occurs at a highly offensive moment in the film.)

And no, Joel is not sporting facial hair, but someone has grown a beard... If you're talking about Trace, I already know that. He busted that out at the Chicago shows I believe. Though it has grown to Kevin Murphy proportions since then. ;D Just to clarify, Joel does have a small bit of chin stubble going. But I'd hardly call it a beard, or even a goatee at this point. You can check out a few SF show pics at the CT forum, if you just can't wait until they get to your neck of the woods.

Yeah, the spit take last night was glorious.
The movie was quite terrible (but it was a premiere!), but I stopped worrying about the plot about 1/4 of the way through and just enjoyed the riffing. I was a little worried about the movie, because I had brought my sister and friend along, and I'm pretty sure they were put off by the language... oh well. I had a blast, and I don't think they completely hate me. ;D

That was you in the Gizmonic hard hat and Germany jacket?! I can't remember if I actually complimented you on your hat in person, but that was an awesome hat. Okay, I'm copying you and sharing my Livejournal post... middlegirl.livejournal.com/28654.htmlOh, and as an addendum to what I wrote in my LJ, if anyone remembers when they go to the later shows, please compliment Frank on his work in The Radio Adventures of Doctor Floyd...

A little off topic... but why did Joel move to Philly? Why would anyone want to come to this forsaken state? Why?! Especially from California! WHY!!!
I'm super jealous of everyone who gets to go see them!

Question - are they selling 2009 tour shirts at the shows - if not did they still have 2008 tour shirts? (I've had a request to have one signed, but i don't see 2009 tour Ts offered at the site)

I was in Somerville last night and it was a great time. "Dynamite Brothers" is awful, and I loved every minute of it.

Maybe they're not doing one. They still have some 08 shirts available at their website.

That's the way it was with the '08 shirts.

I was at the Boston (Somerville) show on Friday the 20th. It was a great show (Blood of the Vampires) - the movie is ridiculous, so it was perfect for riffs. It's a completely convoluted family vampire story that supposedly takes place in Mexico and is full of black-faced servants that are riffed to great extent and humor. Dave Gruber Allen is doing the warm ups, and he was great. Very funny. He and Josh did a few songs together (Josh on bass) before Frank came out to do a short stand up spot. The theatre was a great spot for it, as it was intimate and allowed for everyone to have a great view. The problems with the movie's volume/sound were present here, as well, as it was nearly impossible to hear dialogue over the crowd's laughing or the riffs themselves. This was definitely a problem with the movie itself, however, as they showed a "best of" clip reel as their encore at the end with clips from the other CT releases so far, and the volume was fine with those. The show was also Joel's birthday, which made it fun, and they brought out a cake after the movie - everyone sang. The meet and greet afterwards was great and well worth it. I was near the end of the line (whole line took about an hour of waiting), and they were all very nice even at the end. Trace was especially friendly and looks quite fetching with his new beard (pic below). Mary Jo is also really nice. Joel was also great, and allowed for several photos. I had them all sign my leftover sushi bag from the Japanese place across the street, as I didn't have any official memorabilia (though they had 8x10s for sale - $15 each). I think having a collectible sushi takeout bag is more interesting, myself. I got Gruber to sign as well - he was very friendly and was chatting up a lot of people in the M&G line. As a huge Freaks & Geeks fan, (and Higgins Boys & Gruber - wayyy back) it was great to meet him. They only had DVDs and 8x10s for sale - no T Shirts or anything else. Here's some photos: Here's the stage prior to performance. They didn't have a scaffold or Time Tube or anything - just music stands and mics, and they stood in the same order as on the DVDs. Here's Trace (and me) - note the new beard. On Trace, not me. Though mine is nice, too. Josh is in the background. Joel, me. Joel, me, again. Joel, me, still. Incredibly intimate. The incredibly collectible autographed sushi bag. All in all, fantastic night and a great show - well worth it, and I wish I had gotten tickets for the next night. The 20th was totally sold out, and I think they said the 21st was as well. If/when they come around again, I'll definitely be there.

Hey, carpeteria. I think I saw you there. I didn't know who you were at the time, of course, but your face looks familiar. I was looking around wondering who there also posted on this board. (I know there's a thread with pictures on here somewhere, haven't looked at that thread yet, so don't know if anyone who ever posted pictures were posters who said they were going to this show - guess that would have been a good idea to check out before I left).
I saw both shows. Both were awesome.

Hey there - I'm not too active here, more of a reader, but I thought I should share my thoughts/media with the group. And so I have. And thus it is so.
