Lux Interior, lead singer of The Cramps is gone. www.shoutfactory.com/news/169/rip_-_lux_interior_1948-2009.aspxThis hits me hard. I saw The Cramps three times in DC and every time Lux put on an amazing show. In the last show I saw (during their tour for How to Make a Monster abou 04 or 05 I guess) Lux pulled a cork out of a wine bottle with his teeth and spit it into the audience. Guess who caught the cork? Me. It's still sitting on my desk as I type this. I also have a set list I stole off the stage from a previous show too. My favorite concert memory though was when Lux accidentally kicked the mic stand and it flew out into the audience. I was front row center and caught it from falling into the pit between the audience and the stage. He motioned for it back and I threw it javalin style back to him. Lux caught it and spun it around like Darth Maul before breaking it over his head. Then later in the show he came up to me and said, "How do you like the show?" I said, "It's F'ing Awesome!" and he replied "YOU GOT GOOOOOOOOD TASTE!" and the band started playing "You Got Good Taste." The World has lost an amazing talent.... Here's some clips from The Cramps concert at Napa State Mental Institution. Johnny Cash played prisons. The Cramps played mental institutions. How flippin' cool is that?

Preserve the cork for potential future cloning purposes.
"One of the good dead ones."

An American original is gone. Wasn't happy to hear about this at all. Rest well, sir.

Wow! I hadn't heard this. The Cramps were a great punk band and Lux must have been a kick to see live. R.I.P

This made me so, so sad. I love the Cramps so much and I just saw them live not too long ago. Man, my sweet grandmother died a week and a half ago and now Lux! I hope this isn't a harbinger of a crappy 2009 to come.
RIP Lux. Sniff. :-(

That's too bad, I remember how happy I'd get when Garbage Man would pop up on Nightflight.

One of my favorite bands. They were great live - always a killer show.
