Wish that I had paid attention to the My Name is Earl discussion as well. Great show that had it's bumps in the road but it could have gone on and on. Loved it myself. Catalina was sure easy on the eyes. Well as for me I am watching Season 8 of Trailer Park Boys on Netflix. The show launched last night at 12:01AM Pacific Time. It's a Netflix only series for now, just like the reboot of Arrested Development. 10 episodes in all. Season 9 was being shot earlier this summer and it will be on Netflix soon as well. I have watched 7 episodes since last night and I am loving it. Ricky, Julian, Bubbles, Mr. Lahey, Sarah & Lucy are all back along with other favorites. Sunnyvale Rocks

Trailer Park Boys is an outstanding show. I haven't seen any of the new episodes but I've seen a few of the "behind the scenes" stuff that they've released recently. It's like they never left

Watched Mulaney on On Demand. My God, was it awful. Eeesh. It's like a really crappy version of Seinfeld. Friends live in NY. One's a standup and routines are done before the show. There's a woman, (who can't act and is over-the-top bitchy and neurotic), and a couple of "characters" as his buds. Just terrible. Martin Short sucks on ice in this as his comedy-legend-now-game-show-host boss.
Wow. Stinkeroo.
I was actually looking forward to this, because I've seen John Mulaney doing stand up and he can be funny, but not in this format, and his acting needs a LOT of polishing.

Flash - 3 eps in and it's the best comic book show on TV. Really loving it.
Gotham - slipped some the past 2 eps, but this current one was a return to form.
Green Arrow - first 2 eps were great, but this weeks offering was m'eh. Plus they turned Ted (Wildcat) into a pretty boy GQ model. I know this is the CW, but couldn't they have made him a little older, a little tougher looking - threw a little dirt on him (like give him a bit of a crooked nose, he is a boxer after all).

There's no Robot Chicken thread so I thought I would stick this here (I don't really want to start one, as I don't think there's enough for an entire new thread to keep up interest). But anyway, I saw an episode and one of the skits cracked me up - "The Nightmare Before Hannukah". Jack was looking into a window where a family is gathered around a menorah and sings, "What's this...?" One kid opens up a present and says something like, "Socks" and another kid has pencils or something and Jack says, "Ohhh, this SUCKS." That made me laugh.

i noticed tbs is running robot chicken now? when did that happen? i thought there was an adult swim thread here somewhere, but i may be wrong.
two things i hate: 1. reality tv 2. the lifetime network
but while flipping through the channels tonight, i came across the premiere of a new *sigh* "reality" show called the sisterhood: becoming nuns. really? we're going there? okay. i've always been interested in the process of that particular journey and hearing the stories behind the women who make it, so i watched. man, what a hoot.
you see a handful of 20-something women arrive at a convent, where they will live for six whole weeks to see if being a sister is a life they want and are cut out for. there are a couple of them that seem pretty well grounded to take it on, but predictably not all of them look like they will be able to handle it. first clue: one girl gets visibly pissed when a sister requests all of their cell phones. she's like - we can't use our phones at ALL? oh, snap! the second clue was the whiny, insecure girl (while in the car with her dad as he's dropping her off, she keeps saying, i'm so scared, yo over and over). but maybe it's not just her. for all the other girls, all the nuns, every one of them, stand out front to meet them with big smiles and hugs. but for some reason, only a couple come out to meet this one. anyway, the sister that took the phones also inform them that they cannot wear makeup. whiny girl freaks. the sister says they are there to develop a closer relationship with jesus and that comes from within. the girl squeaks that she feels more confident with her makeup on, would jesus really tell her to take it off?? then you see her crying and carrying on about it, saying, "i'm not ready for this!!"
another girl is pretty loopy, imo. she kept going on to another girl about her visions she's had about jesus flirting with her. and when they are all putting on their plain uniforms, she's all - i don't know about this....apparently jesus prefers her in her kicky little outfits.
i don't know that i will be able to tune in to this regularly. that whiny girl makes it too hard to watch. one of them already almost fainted during the first mass. is the church hoping this will get more girls to sign up for sisterhood? has it come to this?

That makes me think of Girls Town when at the end that nut bar Serafina decides to become a nun. She seemed qualified.

olive kitteridge adapted from the book by elizabeth strout, it was an hbo miniseries that ran recently. i loved the book and was hesitant to watch it, because you know how it is when you watch a movie of a book you really liked - it's never as good and i get vocal about everything they change - he never said that. it didn't happen that way, etc. one of my more endearing habits. but this was really well done. olive is that mean ass teacher you had in middle school you hated. she speaks her mind and doesn't spare anyone's feelings, but she does care in her own way. her husband, henry, is the nicest man ever born and somehow tolerates olive, but her abrasive personality takes its toll on their son, christopher. olive and henry each have emotional affairs with others, but they never give up on each other, which says a lot for henry. there are other residents in town that olive has impacts on, but it isn't as developed in the miniseries as it was in the book. bill murray had a small part in it that was really good, too. very funny in spots, brutal in others. worth the time.

Watched Galavant last night. Wow. That bloody sucked.
And ABC ran promos in between for their other shows using the EXTREMELY annoying opening theme song.

i thought it was pretty funny. will forte is underrated, imo. i also like kristen schaal a lot. it's funny with a good balance of pathos in the right spots.

I've been watching Eureka. I always wanted to watch it when it was on, but didn't have cable. It's fun getting into it... it's well constructed, but it's not taking itself too seriously (and it reinforces my theory that paranormal shows that don't necessarily deal with the occult regularly should have some sort of ethereal whistling in the theme music. See also: X-Files, Gravity Falls.)
