Warehouse 13.
New series on ScyFy (formerly, SciFi).
I was surprised how much I liked this. A cross between The X Files and Friday The 13th, the Series.

After the discussion in the UK TV thread, I rewatched Fawlty Towers. Still pretty much the pinnacle of TV comedy, and easily the single most consistent humor show I've seen. The fact that there are only 12 episodes probably has everything to do with that, but even in terms of the number of jokes that succeed versus the number that fall flat, it's incredible. John Cleese is at his absolute best here, and it's very likely due to his mustache - without it, he's still a funny guy, but with it, he's off the charts.

I've never been a big Fawlty Towers fan. There was too much mean humor in it for my (admittedly wimpy) tastes. But I found this to be very funny in itself: John Cleese is at his absolute best here, and it's very likely due to his mustache - Mazel tov!

Hitler's Hidden Holocaust: The Einsatzgruppen. documentary from the National Geographic Channel about the killings before the death camps were established. When the Germans invaded the USSR in 1941 special squads followed the main army. Their job was to round up the Jewish population, lead them away from the towns, and shoot them. Highly recommended, but be warned, it's very disturbing.

I just rewatched the DVD collection of The Adventures of Robin Hood, the 50's TV series, first season. Of all the five-buck collections I've bought these past five years, this is by far my favorite. (http://www.amazon.com/Adventures-Robin-Hood-Complete-Season/dp/B0012VCMR0, you can get it used for a buckfifty, I see). The other three seasons are/will soon be available, as they have all hit public domain status.
This is a British production, starring Richard Greene, who is a good actor and who is hunky enough for us females to still enjoy and charming for people of all ages/sexes There's plenty here for the kids, but there's also plenty for the adults. The treatment of women, for the date, is amazingly good. Marian gets to ride, practice with a sword, and string a bow (though I don't recall if she ever releases an arrow), as well as being a clever spy. As I mentioned a year or so ago, there's an amazing performance by Donald Pleasance as Prince John. There's never been a better Robin Hood, including in all the movies.
Many of the scripts were written by blacklisted writers, too, which is a nice bonus.

Not a show, I don't know if there's a "where are they now" thread somewhere, but I just saw Richard Kiel doing a commercial for insurance.

Cleese plays Basil Fawlty with such manic energy. It's fun to see him grow progressively frustrated and exasperated to the point where he simply explodes. Most of the episodes cracked me up, especially the one with the guest who died in his room, and the one with Manuel's pet "hamster." Very funny stuff. Good extras on the DVDs, too. "Don't mention the war."

An old episode of 'Family Feud' from the early 1980s. It was the cast of 'Hawaiian Eye' vs. the cast of 'Gilligan's Island.' Jim Bakus was quite frail, considering he went on to live almost as long as Alan Hale Jr. and Natalie Schafer (who were quite spry on the show). And I guess I didn't realize Russell Johnson is still alive--hooray for Steve Carlson!
And Alann Hale Jr. was dressed as the skipper.

Rocko's Modern Life - "Wacky Delly"
Still a great episode of a great series. Shame it isn't on DVD.

Battlestar Galactica - Sometimes A Great Notion
I picked up season 4.5 on Blu-Ray after splurging on a new BR player (instead of airline tickets and hotel rooms, I spent my vacation money on electronic toys). Wow. And wow again. I'm never going to be able to watch regular DVDs again and not wish I were watching a Blu-Ray disc. Absolutely beautiful, and the sound is mesmerizing. I guess I'll have to save up for the full series Blu-Ray.
