Life in Cold BloodThe BBC series on reptile and other coldblooded critters. As always, solid nature photography.

The CSI crossover event. The old gang ain't what it used to be. I stuck with CSI for so long because I loved Gil Grissom. But he's gone and now its Larry Fishburn as the draw, going from Miami to New York to solve a case.
The problem with Fishburn's Ray, is that he's just too darn perfect. He has no interesting or colorful quirks like Grissom and this event is like a day late and a dollar short. A last gasp for a fading franchise?
Miami I gave up on Miami years ago and I didn't know they had turned the show into a comedy. Uh, this was supposed to be funny wasn't it? The over the top melodrama, the hammy acting, the insipid dialog? Hell, it made me laugh. It even infects Fishburn performance as Ray flies into Miami when they find a murdered Kidnap victim that has ties to Vegas. Not much was good here. I winced a lot. Oh how this show has fallen.
New York A kidnapped gal sends Fishburn to NY. Again I haven't seen this show in ages. It's much better than Miami, more sober and better written. But it too stumbles near the end into melodramatic posturing. NY has become more a traditional cop show rather than one that relies on science.
CSI (Vegas) And just like that our kidnapped girl winds up in Vegas and Ray is back home. Though the series is on its last legs, it's still the best of the trio. Unlike NY They still focus on the science thing (though they do act as cops a bit too much). It has heart and thats what keeps me around. I'm nearing 50 and there is not much I haven't seen, read or listened to these days that is too fresh and original any more - so a show has got to move me in some way, and interest me in its characters and character interplay. CSI still has that... but it's getting rusty.
Nic is its strongest asset and this event might have been better with him at the head. But with Fishburn being the big name he's getting the most attention.
Overall it was a mixed bag. None of it, even the Vegas stuff blew me away.
Miss ya Gil - miss the good old days.

I taped "Bones" because I was watching a basketball game (UConn!!!). I watched the tape, Emily's sister was on. And Zooey Deschanel proves once again - she CAN'T ACT.

Two of my coworkers love the show Metalocalypse on Adult Swim, so I decided to give it a shot.
Holy crap, is it hilarious. It's from the same guy who did Home Movies, so that probably explains why I like it, since Home Movies is one of my favorites on Adult Swim. I'm not a big metal person, but I have a very dark/warped/sick sense of humor, so it's perfect for me heh.

The IT Crowd: Series 2 First ep was one of the funniest things they've ever done. The 2nd was one of the worst... the rest settled into a nice middle. Time to check out series 3.

I recently watched my first episode from "The Man from UNCLE", with Archie Bunker as the villain.
Man, why does TV Land run "Full House" and not this?

The first two seasons of The Mighty Boosh. I like it, but I don't know why? Guess I will have to watch it again. Been rewatching The Boosh recently too. I love the first two series, but I didn't like the third series much. I'm hoping that they'll return to form with the fourth series but I'm skeptic. I finally got around to watching Mighty Boosh. Just watched the first season and I'm crazy about it. On to the next!

Christmas Gifts:
Doctor Who: The Deadly Assasin
My fav classic Who story. If you like the current show and want to dip into the old series then this is a great one to start at. It's a really fun gothic adventure story with losts of twists and scares and coolness as The Doctor is summoned to his home planet of Gallifrey and ends up being framed for the murder of the president.
Space Ghost Coast to Coast: The 1998 Episodes (aka Volume 4)
I love SGC2C. I watched it since the begining in 1994 (at the tender age of 6). I bought the first three DVD sets when they came out in the middle of this decade, but then Adult Swim announced that sales weren't so good and that instead of spending all that cash for a retail release through Warner they would just release the rest of the show themselves through their website - and they have (only one set to go and the entire show will have been released), but I never got around to buying the internet only Vol 4 and 5 these last few years! Rectified that this X-mas.
It's interesting watching this show now that I'm older as I can tell how it was put together (confused guests who are being mis-represented through editing, the questions they're asked by Space Ghost often being very different then the ones in the actuall interview). "Intense Patriotism" and "Cahill" were always favs of mine. The original version of "Warren," included on this set, freaked me out when I first watched it at age 10 (the episode is a loop, repeating itself three times for a full hour when it was originally aired).

I was checking out Mighty Jacks MST site, and he mentioned that our morose clone from "Parts" was not only a regular player on Emergency!, he was also in a Dragnet episode. Here it is, on Hulu. www.hulu.com/watch/55153/dragnet-burglary-dr-31This guy was really into comic book characters. Now why does that sound so familiar? Hmmm...

I just wish there were more of them. I’ve been watching a lot of British TV on Netflix with my wife and I’ve found it to be vastly superior to American television.

I like to dress up like Wonder Woman and cry on her poster. Eerie! The IT Crowd: Series 2 First ep was one of the funniest things they've ever done.
