The History Channel's 13-part series on Rome. When I think of Rome, I think of art, political structures, aqueducts and other amazing engineering, grand monuments. This was all battles and dates, battles and dates--which is what turned me off to history as a kid. Battles are what happen to keep violent people busy while more interesting people do art, engineering, science, and culture-building, imo, and are the dullest part of a civilization.

Hitler's Museum. British program that I got for Christmas on DVD. It's about how Hitler and his cronies wanted to get all the major works of art from all the countries that they occupied. Very fascinating, and some works of art have never been recovered to this day.

Same here! I want to go there now. It was also pretty cool to see the elementary school. And I loved that Milhouse tattoo!

Extras, years one and two. I'm not a big Office fan (it actually depresses me), I found this pretty funny. Gervais is really good as a comic actor at just reacting with this disbelieving look. I particularly LMAO at it during the Ian McKellen scene where's he's explaining, as if to a four-year-old, what acting is.

Doctor Who Series 1
I'm watching the entirety of the revived (regenerated?) Doctor Who. Although the first few episodes are a bit rough the second half of this series (starting with "Dalek") is really strong. And I'm of the opinion that Russel T Davies went to overboard on spectacle in the later finales and this one remains the most emotionally satisfying.

The Human Target
3 eps in and my thoughts? It’s the Human Target in name only. In stripping away what made the comic unique (guy who becomes the person he's protecting, he isn't simply a body guard), you’re left with pretty standard TV action fare. He’s a pretty face with some quirky sidekicks and they fight bad guys. It’s light and entertaining enough, but nothing special. That this recent episode under whelmed me, might be an indication that I’m already losing interest.

The Simpsons The Complete 20th Season. Found this at Best Buy and started watching it. Has some ups and downs as far as the humor, but the Halloween show never disappoints.

The Rotten Tomatoes Show on Current TV.
One of a handful of really good shows on this network.
Ellen Fox (she is) and Brett Erlich are our affable hosts. They lead us through reviews of three "just released" movies each week. Viewers are able to send in reviews which are interspersed with footage of the reviewed movie, opinions of the hosts, professional reviewers, and such. Each segment ends with the final tomato meter rating of that movie from the Rotten Tomatoes website.
There are some really creative skits built around cinematic themes. All done with energy and enthusiasm. I never miss it.

A BBC documentary from its Arena arts strand about Brian Eno called Another Green World. Instead of just interviewing him and showing lots of clips of his songs and what not it just filmed him cutting about his house, making music and chatting to friends, mainly other musicians, journalists and so on. You start to get a sense of what influences him and his thought processes in a way that just asking him "what was your thinking behind Discreet Music" never could. He comes across as someone who you could just listen to speak all day about anything and everything. And of course the music's great. There's a little in joke in the Arena title sequence as the theme tune has always been Another Green World. Instead it plays Here Come The Warm Jets over it. The film instead ends with Another Green World and the text: "Another Green World Theme Of Arena Composed by Brian Eno". It's full of little touches like this that show the film maker lover her subject. Highly recommended.

I just got finished the last season 4 (the first part of season 4 anywho..) episode of the Venture Brothers. Wow, that was an awesome ep.. Alot of things got resolved or expanded in this season, and I can't wait for the 2nd part of season 4 which comes out this spring some time..
ETA: I am a HUGE VB fan... its one of the ONLY shows if not THE only show on adult swim anymore that not only has great animation, but actually has a great (and funny) story line.. I watch some of that crap on AS , and think to myself "Gee...I REALLY need a hit of whatever those guys were on when they made that"..

The Human Target This current episode was their best yet, primarily because they got in to a little mystery with some back stories. Soo, some added some intrigue, plus Jackie Early Haley's character is shaping up nicely. This week got an interest upswing. If it builds on that I'll stick with it. Smallville Watching last years season on DVD and in a few days I'll be getting the final episodes. It's pretty much the same thing. Good when it focuses on the heroics, painful when it becomes a soap opera. Glad that Lex is gone - the actor wasn't bad but I was pretty sick of him (and Lana for that matter). Loved the Legion episode and the Zantana ep was great - with a hilarious moment between Lois and Clark on the roof. The actress playing Zantana was spot on. Some of the best casting looks wise you'll ever find. Plus she was a decent actress. But... Doomsday with alter ego? A whiny alter ego with puffy lips who goes by the name of Davis? Bwa-HA-HA-HA-HA... oh for dumb!

The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour After I saw these guys live I got a yen to check out the show. And man, so many wonderful memories... seeing the deadpan Pat Paulsen, Goldie O'Keefe and all those great musical guest again.
I loved seeing Mickey Rooney and Bette Davis in s skit and James Mason's bit on beards.
But, rights issues have wrecked these things. There are missing skits and guests, whole episodes that can't be put on the disc (I wonder if rights issues extend to playing them on TV - I'd at like to at least be able to see the Beatles episode in some manner)
And some of the humor - man that Chinese sketch was kind of offensive. Okay for the times but today it was embarrassing. I wonder if there is something we find funny today that will make people cringe 20 years from now?
