Does anyone else on this board like this T.V. series? I currently own the complete collection on DVD, and it is one of my favorite British comedies. Who else agrees?

An amazing show. Series 1 isn't as good as Series 2-4, and the final special "Back and Forth" is crap, but overall it's comedy gold.

Agreed. This is one of the funniest shows I've seen.

The final scene of Goes Forth must be the most poignant ever in a comedy show.

I have a cunning plan...
Love it. Goes Forth used to be my favorite, but on rewatching them, I think I actually like 3 a bit better. The interaction with Hugh Laurie is good stuff. (And on him...I've never seen an episode of House...and I never want to.)

I agree very much that the first season wasn't that good compared to the other brilliant three seasons, but I liked Back and Forth. The part with Flasheart as Robin Hood was a funny touch.

Haven't seen these in years but I remember enjoying it a lot. Might be time to check 'em out again.

This sounds gimp but I like all the seasons nearly equally, 3 and 4 are tied, I would hate to have to choose one over the other. But I'm really curious why don't you want to see an episode of House? To me that's like saying "I love filet mignon, so I'll never eat prime rib."

I've seen 1~4 and the Christmas special, and while I love them all I think it's Blackadder II that has the largest number of personally memorable moments.
"I AM the Baby-Eating Bishop of Bath & Wells!"
"She'll never believe we've just cut it off; it's gone green!"
"Kate, he looks like what he is: a dung-ball in a dress."
"The colour of gold, Percy, is gold, hence the name. The substance you have created--if indeed it has a name--would similarly be called 'green.'"

I've never seen House either, and I don't know if it's the same for Mumms, but I just have no interest in the show's premise at all. I'm sure Hugh's fabulous in it, but medical shows bore me. I've also never been into the "quirky and flawed but gifted" lead-structured shows with the exception of Criminal Intent (if one could even count that). I loved it whenever Rik Mayall popped up on Black Adder-completely different from his Young Ones' character, but still a bastard.

I loved it whenever Rik Mayall popped up on Black Adder-completely different from his Young Ones' character, but still a bastard. It's pretty much the medical-drama in general that turns me off. It's the same reason I don't like crime shows: it's basically the same premise used as an excuse for a handful of plot devices and for the cast to do its character interaction bit. It's fine, and it can be done well. But just in general, it seems like more standard TV fare. It's probably well done if Laurie signed on, but it takes a lot for a TV show to make me tune in every week. I mean, I consider myself a LOST fan, but I haven't actually watched it when it came on all season. Same for BSG.

Ooooo...BlackAdder! I discovered this show in the early 90's, when I was 13. I have a few episodes from when they were released on VHS. I looked for them on DVD some time ago and never found them. I've kind of forgotten since then. And I just found then on Deep Discount. YAY!
And I actually really like Black Adder I. It's the season I've seen the most from. Haven't seen much of the second.
Seriously, I'm going to buy these right now!

I bought the complete series on DVD from a BBC America catalog a few years back.
