Man, I really love this show. Own all the DVD sets.
The Rimmer song? Among the most funniest things I've ever heard in my life. NEVER fails to lift my spirits after a rough day.

Well, I watched all three epps of Back to Earth. It wasn't Polymorph of Back to Reality, but it was darn good Red Dwarf.

Mmmmm, I was disappointed with the first episode but 2 and 3 were much better.

The thing was, Back to Earth was really a 70 minute TV movie that was chopped up haphazardly into three episodes for ratings purposes. The first episode was just the setup.
Low resolution of Youtube, was the skutter CGI?

Low resolution of Youtube, was the skutter CGI? Yes. There was also a 'Making of' show, which was well worth a watch as well and the skutters were discussed in that. The shows will also be available on DVD soon, I believe.

Great show, to me seasons 2 through 7 are just comedy gold. increadable stuff, Seasons 1 and 8 are good though not up to the other seasons.

I don't know the time difference between when then series sets were being released in the UK and the US before, but there was this little message from Kryten during the viral marketing for this special that the DVD will be released soon for non-Brit fans. The UK release date is in July.

Yeah, and it'll include the director's cut "movie" version, which by all accounts is tighter and better overall.
And Back to Earth got the best ratings for the Dave cable channel in its history, so another Dwarf mini-seires or even a full series is possible.

Cool. I just couldn't get over how old they looked. Thankfully, Kryten's makeup kept him looking normal. But Craig Charles looked positively diseased at times.
Still, it was fun. I was impressed that it kept the same atmosphere despite the time lag.

I was impressed that it kept the same atmosphere despite the time lag. I felt the same about the lag between seasons six and seven, but I think Danny looked worse than Craig. He looked like he needed a sammich. His Cat did not been aging well the last three seasons. I can't wait to pick this up. It will be so much fun.

Hi, I'm a Red Dwarf n00b. Just started watching them on Netflix. I've finished Season One...
Any tips?

^Not really, it's best watched in order so it's not like Doctor Who or MST3K where people list their favorite episodes for newbies to seek out.
Season 2 is when things get really, really good. Seasons 2, 4, and 5 are my favorites.

Back to Earth is now avaliable on DVD stateside.
I think the best part is Lister's horrific despcription of what he did in the bathroom (not finding any toilet paper) while Rimmer looks at a book of carpet samples.
