Very cool! Thanks Chuck.
Though I disagree that its mean spirited. I don't think Devo was ever truly mean spirited. They did have a certain 'we're smarter than you' vibe that was off putting to critics but loved by spudboys who related.
Plus Devo has been embracing the commercial for quite a long time. That was part of the devolution. I mean, when you sell you music to Disney so they can have kids sing it, your not only poking fun at he culture, but reaping the benefits. Mean spirited, that's debatable, I look at it more as a smarty pants band enjoying a nice laugh at society's expense.

I bought this a few days ago and I love it. It's great to know that a bunch of smartass 60 year olds can still rock it hard.
To me, Devo has always been a joke taken seriously. But we get to be in on the joke. Devo wants us in on the joke. That's what makes it so funny. Their skewering of American pop culture and consumerism is brilliant and still relevant even after 40 years. The fact that it also happens to be awesome rock 'n' roll shows just how serious they take this joke, and that's why it works so well.

Aye great album. Really enjoyed it. And I agree, it's great to hear a bunch of "old guys" showing the kids how to do it!
