I think this is kind of mom and pops operation. I don't know who would be financing this other than the Titans themselves. If this is cheaper for them to do it this way (I don't know), then I'll cut them slack for it (and live went off so well I don't see a problem) - it's the same with ticket prices, I know some folks complain about that but I figure they aren't trying to gouge us, but charging what they have to in order to keep themselves up and running.
I'll wait and see how it works before I say yay or nay.

I wonder if there will be shadowrama at all. It's kind of odd because that was Joel's big thing. I wouldn't miss it too much if it was gone. I never thought the new setup worked near as well as the closer head shots of the MST3K theater.
The laugh track is another matter. If it has the audience laughing along in there, I'm out for sure.
I do agree that Joel doesn't seem very keen on caring what his fans think.
Off to buy the Maniac riff by RiffTrax.

I do agree that Joel doesn't seem very keen on caring what his fans think. And yet when we said we wanted keep cases and cover art, we got it. And when we wanted a premise, we got that too. There isn't an accord in regards to the studio vs live debate, so he's not really showing a lack of care in this regard. The only thing we Titans fans do have accord on, is that we want some DVD releases. I don't think it's fair to say that Joel isn't caring about what his fans think (and what fan does he pander too? We fans have a lot of varying opinions). Plus, the whole group is very warm and welcoming at the live shows. Joel & Frank showed patients when I asked my geeky question and asked if I could have my pic taken with him. He hasn't spit in my eye yet. I've witness much care.

Not caring what fans think does not mean they all can't be genuinely nice people, which by all accounts they are.
You are right about the DVD cases and premises, although those things only matter if they continue producing shows.

Yeah... I agree with Bob3k on this. I mean, just because Joel didn't punch me in the throat at the Live Cinematic Titanic show in Atlanta, doesn't mean that they don't care what the fans think. I mean, they're still human. Their going to be cordial when someone is geeking out over them at a live event. They seem like fine people, but that might be hard to tell for sure seeing how I've only spent a grand total of a minute in a busy line in their presence. But historically--and by the account of the other Brains/Titans--Joel is a weird guy and he dances to the beat of his own drum. That's what makes him quirky and original, so he's going to do it his way, because it is his baby. And that is fine, but if the live DVDs are crap as a result, then I won't buy it. Just my opinion.
I've been watching MST3k since the original airing of Sidehackers--never missed an episode since. I love all things MST3k and related, but I've always slightly preferred the original Joel episodes and Comedy Central era to the Mike and Sci-Fi years. I had extremely high hopes for Cinematic Titanic, and they raced out the gates strong and with great promise... but their decisions to focus on the live stuff and now deciding to abandon the studio DVDs has really been a major turn off for me, personally. If they are doing it because it makes financial sense, then I can't argue with that. But I know I read that the Titans were debating whether to do the live or studio DVDs, which means that they were not all in agreement with each other... so, that would indicate that this is a decision (probably Joel's, I'm sure) to go that route and not a necessity. Hopefully it will be great, and I'll look back and laugh at my silly concerns... but I really doubt it. As stated before, I will buy East Meets Watts, and if it stinks* (okay sign), then I will just save my money for Rifftrax endeavors. Over and out.

Well that last part was more a light hearted appreciation. I'd hoped we wouldn't get bogged down on that and miss the greater point of my post (Being, that we have made requests that have been answered). Also - We all have our individual feelings on the live vs studio matter. So how do we hold Joel accountable for that? Is he supposed to listen to those who say yay, or those who say no? I do agree that they need to get on a steady release schedule. I think the vast majority of fans are united on that. Even if all you did was 3 a year, spaced out evenly. Being able to count on that would be nice. So Joel, care about that at least
