I'm still calling that a rumor until MS announces it. If it is true though I think MS should wait until they're prepared to drop the other two SKU's $100 and at built-in wi-fi (that would justify the $479 price tag a bit more). Dropping the other two SKU's price also puts the 360 in the $299 and $199 sweet spots and puts the Core head-to-head with the Wii. I do like the fact that MS (again, IF the rumor is true) would include the HDMI cable, something that Sony did not. I also think some of the accessories need to come down in price, namely the MU's and the HDD. I think the 20GB should drop to $50 and then sell the 120GB for $100-$150. It's 90% confirmed anyway. Microsoft is useless about confirming rumors - they don't announce anything until they're good and ready. There's a big article about the new Xbox in next month's Game Informer, confirmed to be legit. The system will be a limited edition black version with the aforementioned features (120GB, HDMI), as well as the new innards that help it run cooler and not allow you to fry an egg on it. (For serious.) Once the limited edition black 360 runs out, the new upgrades will be transferred to the white Premium edition and will, presumably settle back into the $399 pricetag. That's the situation as it stands, to the public's knowledge. I've heard nothing even remotely definite about future price drops, though. I'm not often one to bank on rumors, but this one is nearly official. Bet on it. And now FFXIII's exclusivity has been called into question. Now that would really suck for Sony. This is total rumor and speculation, but it wouldn't surprise me. For developers, it just makes sense to make multiplatform games, when the PS3 has so comparitively few users. It's also possible that its all GI's April Fool's joke. GI says they don't do April fool’s but who knows. Yes it's pretty much confirmed (and I do actually believe the rumor) but I'll still take a wait and see approach until this news comes directly from the horse's mouth, so to speak. There have been price drop rumors here and there (yeah I know the source is a German site). gigagamez.com/2007/03/13/microsoft-declines-comment-on-rumor-of-360-price-drop-in-may/Then again, there are often price drop rumors this time of year, and last year's rumor, in fact, originated from EU as well. However, I feel it's realistic for it to happen this year IF it's true that production costs of the 360 have gone into the black. MS may be looking to put the final nail in Sony's coffin this gen. www.xbitlabs.com/news/multimedia/display/20061120132150.htmlI doubt Sony will lose FF exclusivity because I'm sure they'll pay out big time for it. Of course MS may be willing to pay more to make sure it’s not exclusive. Still, I think MGS4 is the more likely title to "jump ship". Truth is Sony just has a very low installed base and current sales of the console have wowed no one (in NA, JPN, or now EU). For example, last month the PS3 sold less than the GBA, selling only 127k, according to the NPD and some people have been saying that sales could drop under 100k this month. The funniest thing to me is that the more Sony screws up, the more arrogant they become. Saying garbage like this: www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=23723 Oh and I don't want Sony to die, and it won't because of PS2 sales, and I don't want someone in a dominant position the way Sony was last gen. However, I'd like to see Sony again focus on what matters here, GAMES! This really says it all for me: i115.photobucket.com/albums/n297/Avaphotar/sonyblurayplayer.jpgNote: "IT ALSO PLAYS GAMES!"

To just power-level and receive neither meat nor items, go to the hidden temple. The Icy peak is a good place to do some leveling, as are the levels in the sky (the airship, the giant castle, the hole in the sky). All good places, the actual levels give you items and meat.

Fishpicker, I'm not going to quote your post because, well, that's a lot to quote and I'm too tired to sort through that right now. If the Xbox thing IS an April Fool's joke, well, I wouldn't want to work for Game Informer. NOT. FUNNY. I'm betting on its being real. We're long overdue for an upgraded 360. I can't see MS waiting until Christmas for it, especially when they're banking on Bungie delivering Halo 3 by September. And this is well-timed to take the attention away from Sony, after all their launches. About the price drop rumors, I just haven't seen any substantial ones. It's inevitable, but I have not seen enough to convince me to expect it in the near future. Especially if they start selling the Premium pack with the upgraded system. They've re-justified the $399 pricetag with these upgrades and, besides that, MS hasn't been at all enthusiastic about reducing the cost when Sony is still charging more. I've heard just about every public statement Sony has made in the past year in regards to the PS3, and I'm amazed at the consistancy of their stupidity. In their defense, though, their sales during this past period were higher than Microsoft's were a year ago. So the PS3 isn't matching Sony's hype but, somewhere, somehow, it is managing to sell. Sort of. I'd also like to throw a recommendation for Kotaku out there. The best gaming blog on the internet, in my opinion. That is all.

I played my first Wii yesterday. It was amazing.
And guess which game I played with it. Twilight Princess. I only played the first fifteen minutes, but riding on the horse (mine was named "Brimley") was freakin' amazing, as was the whole 'calling down a hawk' thing. What a throughly awesome game and system.

Sort of. I'd also like to throw a recommendation for Kotaku out there. The best gaming blog on the internet, in my opinion. That is all. Gaming sites and magazines have done bigger (and more irritating) April fool's jokes before. However, Dean Takahashi has commented on it so that gives it A LOT more weight. As for the price drop, I don't think they'll be waiting on Sony this generation. I think they'll do it whenever they can afford to (meaning production costs would still be in the black) and put even more pressure on Sony. I also think that they'll want to reach the casual gamer price point ($199) as soon as possible ESPECIALLY if Wii sales remain as strong as they are now. No, there have not been any substantial rumors regarding a price drop (I'm with you there), just the usual ones, however, at the end of the article on the front page of Kotaku (which you seem to have a high opinion of) mentions the possibility "if interest shifted to the newer model". The article also mentions the continued lowering of production costs. To be fair, Takahashi himself says that he doesn't think the Elite would affect the price of the Core or the Premium. It's true that the PS3 is outselling the 360 in the same time frame but there is a difference. The 360 had shortage issues, the PS3 does not. I think what really grabbed me personally about the PS3's launch, what waved a big red flag, was the fact that the week of launch, two days after launch day, I went into Best Buy and they still had some, and the employee's were really trying to push it on customers (going so far as to lie about the Wii and 360). On the other hand, I ended up having to order my Wii in a bundle online a few months after launch. Back to the PS3, I know many gamers, and like me, most of them would like one but for most it's just too expensive and/or there are no killer (exclusive) app's on the horizon and because of that there is little demand. My interest in the console wanes altogether with each lost exclusive. Is it selling? Yes. Is it selling well? Not especially. Does it look like sales are going to pick up anytime soon? Not without a price drop. Kotaku is a good site and I'll vouch for that as well.

I'm guessing that this is going to be a Legend of Zelda thread for a while, huh? I try to vary my posts, but LoZ is pretty much all I play these days. That should change this week though... But don't worry, my Spiritual Journey shall be contained here, and that will be around for a while. On August 22nd watch out, because on that day, I'll have two pretty long posts to wrap up my Journey and commemorate a great day in human history. BTW, thanks for sticking up for Zelda CF. I owe you.
