Two and a Half Men, King of Queens, Yes, Dear, Rules of Engagement, and How I Met Your Mother are, in my opinion, examples of shows that time will forget ... I hope. I could be wrong; in fact, the odds say I am wrong since I often don't side with popularity. I actually think How I Met Your Mother is really good. Not Arrested Development/Seinfeld great, but I wouldn't lump it in with the usual mediocre CBS sitcom fare. I can see where it would be too much like Friends for some to enjoy, but as someone who's wife owns all of the Friends DVD sets it's a far superior version of that show. Better writing, more interesting characters, and more of the quirky sensibilities of a show like AD. Best sitcoms: Arrested Development The Office (US) SportsNight Seinfeld Worst sitcoms: I probably haven't watched the worst ones, but I have a hard time imagining one worse than the one Urkel was on.

Slightly off-topic: I love when they show outtakes on the DVD's. Though some seem forced, like they just threw a few on to include them 'cause everyone else is including them, and they just zip through a few, where someone just goes "oops" and they quickly jump to another one.
Seinfeld's outtakes are hilarious.
Back on topic: I kind of liked a sitcom called "Roc" that was on a few years ago, with Charles S. Dutton. It had some potential, then just kind of fizzled out.

Video contains coarse language. I don't think Full House was featured on the TGIF line-up.

Scrubs is one of my favorite TV series of all time, and vastly underrated by the general public.
I was a huge Arrested Development fan and loved it.
The Office is still one of my favorites on TV right now.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Flight of the Conchords are my two favorite on TV now, although FOTC may be over.

I think "Arrested Development" is probably the funniest show to ever air aside from MST3K. The jokes that those writers were able to pull off were amazing. Everything was so intricately woven together , episode after episode, and the way one joke could extend from one scene to the next and then back again was brilliant. I also think the cast was the most perfectly funny cast since Seinfeld. But it's definitely love it or hate it. I think it's such an unusual show that you kind of have to watch it for a little bit to "get" it; the first time I ever saw it, I was so struck by how strange of a sitcom it was that I couldn't really take in the humor. Another one like that-- not sure if it's really a sitcom but it's close-- is "Strangers With Candy," also unfairly cancelled after three seasons. Man what a great, irreverent show.
I'm not going to say it's the worst, but one that truly baffles me is the American adaptation of "The Office". So many people think it's so brilliant and hilarious, but I just don't think it's funny at all. And I have tried many times to watch it. I don't know. I adore the Ricky Gervais one, though.
I think the worst sitcoms currently being produced are "Two And A Half Men" and "The Rules Of Engagement". Dear God, every now and then I catch a few minuteqs of either of these at someone's house or something and it's just beyond words how unfunny it is. As for worst sitcoms ever, does anyone remember "The Michael Richards Show"? Or what was the one with the two guys in space-- wasn't it like "Homies In Space" or something like that? I swear I'm not making that last one up. It existed; I remember it.

Seinfeld, Newsradio, Thirty Rock, The Office and Two & A Half Men are all winners for me. Probably in that order. I don't watch that many TV shows, so the ones I do watch I find amazing.
Honorable mentions (which all happen to be British comedies): Fawlty Towers, Are you Being Served?, and Mr. Bean.
Can I just ask, though...why is Reba funny?? Bleh.

Forgot about 30 Rock- definitely the best sitcom on tv right now (not counting Flight Of The Conchords because I'm not sure if that one's coming back).
Tracy Morgan is the best part of the show. One of my favorite moments is when Liz is telling him that he should be closer to his coworkers, and he says something to the degree of "I love my coworkers! We always make fun of my dumb boss Liz Le--" and then Tina Fey just stares at him, and they cut back to him and he has the funniest damn expression on his face.

Titus is the last great sitcom I can name, personally. Titus may have been the best sitcom not to be syndication. If you liked the show you should grab his CD's. In order because it is important they are.... Norman Rockwell is Bleeding The 5th Annual End of the World Tour Love Is Evol Brilliantly real. As for worst sitcom there's a few that come to mind....Just Shoot Me losses its charm quickly, Jesse was pretty bad but (and I know this isn't the popular vote) Friends...I have no idea how people watch that show, man I have tried and it just makes me wanna poke my eyes and ears out with a spork.

Have seen all his stand ups. The man is morbidly hillarious. Just may be the funniest man alive for the "father's funeral" bit in End of the World Tour alone.

I hate 'em all! I LOVE to laugh, but I find I don’t like most television comedies, even the so called greats (which I'll keep to myself at the risk of bodily harm) So I’m not a real big TV comedy guy. I loved MST3K, I liked the Simpson’s at their peak. I liked a lot of the Britcoms (Red Dwarf, Are You Being Served, Black Books, the IT Crowd, much of Black Adder, first season of The Office) – I like old school stuff better, Van Dyke, Beaver (early seasons with Larry Mondello), Bob Newharts stuff, WKRP... And Letterman (not a sitcom but on TV) in the old days was hilarious to me.

I like old school stuff better, Van Dyke, Laura letting Alan's 'secret' slip on the air has one of the best moments ever when Alan tells the wigs, 'Well boys' your outta a job!'

I remember That 80's Show! It was only on for like a few weeks heh. One of the actors from the show, Glenn Howerton, is now one of the executive producers/stars of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. And (thanks IMDB!) one of his former co-stars from That 80's Show has a recurring role on IASIP as Carmen, the pre-op transsexual who one of the characters dates on and off. And let me use that as a segue and say that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is one of the funniest shows on tv now. The creators describe it as "Seinfeld on crack" and that couldn't be more accurate. The characters are all self-absorbed, arrogant jerks, but somehow that makes them endearing. And the show's pretty good at satire/poking fun at society. They've taken on, among other topics, the abortion debate, political corruption, underage drinking, and the gas crisis, all without getting too preachy/beating the viewer over the head. They also manage to be edgy (for lack of a better term) without being blatantly offensive. And if a character does or says something offensive, they're made to look stupid (One character goes to a rally outside an abortion clinic to pick up women, and gets pelted with eggs by both sides). Everyone I know who has watched this show has had nothing but good stuff to say about it (though I'm sure it has its critics too heh). I've only seen a few episodes of Arrested Development, and I liked what I saw. I need to watch more though...thank heavens for Hulu! I love The Office (the US version). I knew someone in college who refused to watch the US series, because he said it was a ripoff the British one. I've yet to see most of the British series, but I know some of the US episodes are based on the UK ones, then it takes off in its own direction. I like how the show can take some mundane office event or task, like performance review, choosing health care, or a sexual harassment seminar, and turn it into a really funny episode. I started watching Married with Children recently, and it's another favorite. What's funny is watching it now and finding it weird that it caused so much controversy back in the late 80's/early 90's for being offensive and inappropriate. The envelope has been pushed so much in the past 15 years, shows like IASIP and Family Guy make Married with Children look like an episode of The Brady Bunch. Ah yes, Family Guy. I'm going to agree with another comment here: When Family Guy hits its mark, it can be great. But when it's a miss, it's a real miss. I can't stand most of the "drag out a joke as much as we can" things. The "Peter fights with a giant chicken" segment was funny the first time, now it's just tiring. Other favorites: -The Simpsons (I've been watching this since I was a little kid, and I always got a kick out of being like 8 years old and having friends tell me they couldn't watch The Simpsons because "It's too violent." LOL what?) -Seinfeld -The Odd Couple (Watched the hell out of this when it was on Nick at Nite) -South Park (Haven't watched it in awhile, but it's always been a favorite) -The Big Bang Theory -Laverne and Shirley (Another I watched a lot on Nick at Nite...looks like I'm the minority when I say I like it heh) And I can't forget my Britcoms either: -Are You Being Served? (RIP this year to both Miss Brahms and Mrs. Slocombe ) -Mr. Bean -Blackadder -Monty Python's Flying Circus -Fawlty Towers -Little Britain -Father Ted (Ok, it's Irish, but the DVD is produced by the BBC!) As for the least favorites? -The Brady Bunch -Full House (I think I was the only girl at school growing up who just NEVER caught onto this show. Boring, boring, boring. A lot of the plots were very cliched and predictable, and I've noticed that other young adult book and tv series tend to recycle Full House storylines as well) -Tyler Perry's whatever the name is. Some of the worst acting I've seen on tv in a long time. -The sitcom adaptation of My Big Fat Greek Wedding that lasted like 2 episodes. The movie was fantastic, but it's one of those things that doesn't work on tv. A newlywed's loud, Greek family tormenting her and her new husband gets old awfully quick when it's a weekly tv show. -Does Seventh Heaven count? Yuck x 1000. -When Family Matters became "The Urkel Show". And it's not a sitcom, but Sesame Street became less fun when it became "The Elmo Show, with cameos from everyone else." ETA: Yikes, that got long! Sorry for the tl;dr post, everyone!

I really liked Designing Women. I don't know why, I just really did.
And Arrested Development is head and shoulders the best sitcom of this decade.
